Just picked up a decent Ford cab out of a late-model wrecking yard (go figure). This will be my first time messing with a fat fender of any kind. I'm far from registering it but I'd like to know for sure what I've got when the time comes/as I collect parts. I've read through all the threads I could find, picked up a ton of smarts but my eye just ain't good enough yet to tell the 35 cab from the 36. Help me out, fat Ford experts.
Thanks. Saw that thread but not real clear about the a pillar angle. What are you seeing that says 36 for sure?
35 have inside window garnish trim... 36 don't .. and some other differences.. don't matter yers is a 36..
Thank you! A pretty simple truck sporting Buick wire wheels and a rubber rake. Mild/dated upholstery. 8BA flathead and 3.54 differential. I've had it 12 years and it gets around. Pete
Trucks of that vintage generally had a long and hard life most often reflected in beat fenders. Fiberglass may be your friend here
Doors are also different, see the little "handgrab" about the middle of the doors on the inside? Never seen those on '35's, just smooth...Of course doors can be changed, I guess it's more for the restorer to be concerned about.
Indeed. Even that's too pricy, unfortunately. Would be well over three grand to do glass fenders and boards through Wescott's. I was kind of shocked to see that. No way I can pay six times what I gave for the body and doors, in cash or in principle.
