Customs 49-56 Olds customs

Here's the hood unlatched and pulled forward.

 

That impresses me, motor and all. It looks like the arms fold in the center. Is that right?
I asked because I'm in the middle of a forward opening hood on my Truck. I have installed the ready made Kits for a few customers and to say the least I was not impressed with any aspect of them. What I'm doing should be considered just plain Nutz and thank God the motor was out of truck during the design/build part of it. I'm getting there.

Just had to post a picture of Bobert's (RIP) car. Bobert was one of our outstanding breakfast guys. It's a sweet car, and Bobert was a great guy.

 

Thanks Wizard! It hinges/rotates at the hood and down by the core support. The springs keep it in tension so it can sit in the partially open position until I lift it up over the front. I spent a whole summer messing with it. If you want more details, just send a PM. I'm traveling for work all week, but would be happy to share more about the hinge setup.

I did all of the work on this car with the exception of the paint and interior. I did do all of the body work up to wet sand as well. First time for that. 6 years.

I've only put a hundred miles or so on it since I finished it, but it's a blast to drive.

Bought it Like this, added the Pontiac grille. Never got to clean it up and make it mine, (it was a little too much for my taste), had too many in the herd. One of the few cars I really regret selling. Still have a fresh 324 short block and the grille.

that is beauty of a rejuvenated olds! you can park that in my driveway anytime you want!!! Great engineering job on the reversed hood. Quite in keeping with the rest of the car.

 

My mild custom 56 Holiday 88. 324 with Jetaway hydramatic. Had the mailbox before the car.

 

^^^Love it. I always wanted a 56, even while I owned my 55. Olds had a hard time getting a nice two tone scheme figured out in 55-56, but I love those cars.

Here is my 56 Super 88. I wish it was a 2 door holiday, but its still a 56 Olds. It has a 59 394 with Jet away trans in it.
