The push rod is the same for BBC and SBC I believe. It's wrong pump or possibly something is wrong with the fuel pump eccentric

maybe it's just not priming, not pulling fuel from the tank. Will it run if you put some fuel in the carb and get it going a little?

Years ago a friend put a 283 in his f100 with a front mount. He used a bolt that was too long and bound up his pushrod. Is that possible on a BBC?

If I remember in the morning, I will check the 402 in the garage.

Could be something as simple as a pin hole in the fuel line and you are pumping air. It doesn't take a large hole and no fuel gets pumped. You don't have the fuel lines reversed on the pump ? Seen that done too. Try running a rubber line from a gas can to the inlet on the pump and check it out.

Just an FYI, the 402 I have is not drilled through like a SBC is. Mine is a 72 version from a pickup. I could check the pushrod length if you wish, meengrinch. I probably shoulda done that in the first place.
