  9. Around 1970, a kid brought in a Saab Sonett - the one with the little v-4 ford engine. Stuff was always breaking on it. Michigan winters were not kind to it & already had signs of severe rusting going on with the chassis. He begged me to buy it for next to nothing. The last time he brought it in, I fixed it and he never came back to pick it up.

IMO, the motor weighed too much & made too little horsepower.

    Hello,
On our vacation to London when we were 25, (46 years ago) we saw a bunch of strange cars and city streets. They were not the square blocks that we were used to back in So Cal. Walking was preferred, even though the underground trains were pretty efficient. It just did not appeal to us to take a train, when we could walk or take a taxi cab and see the sights along the way...

Eddie Sachs after a midget win at the old Cincinnati Race Bowl in the Hoffman car. That's owner Gus Hoffman with his hand on the headrest. I believe this would have been about 1955.

Edit: Now that I look closer that guardrail looks like the track might be the 16th Street Speedway instead of Cincinnati. Do you have the track name, Rootie? Thanks.

I would vote for 16th Street. From the stories I heard from the oldtimers, Race Bowl had more bank than shown in the picture.

Also didn't realize that Gus Hoffman ever had a midget. I always thought he was totally a sprint car guy.
