Not a lot going on in the last couple weeks between working on my Dads corvette and pulling my camaro out of storage. Maybe it's spring?! Ha ha supposed to be. Anyways working on finishing off the front floor boards with the redo work from the 409. Question for everyone on the inner door jambs. These we spot welded when I first bought the car as you can see in the pics and I am wondering how they are supposed to be finished normally. Is that seam usually welded closed from top to bottom and ground down? It has the nail holes for the wood so I'm not quite sure. Have searched pics but can't really find me anything that shows enough detail to guide me. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Nothing too exciting to report, now that the weather is good been out in the camaro the last couple weekends. Got in the shop today and finished notching the sub rail on the drivers side to clear the panhard bar and exhaust hanger mount. Things that needed to get cleaned up after putting the body back on the after working on frame stuff all winter. Seam sealed all the rear floor panel welds now that that work is all done. Dad came up today and put the tail lights lights in while I was doing the trunk stuff. Happy with how they look. Now that they are in I can build the license plate mount. After helping me with a bunch of other little things I think I wore him out as he didn't get his afternoon nap! Ha ha nothing that the steaks cooking on the bbq won't help! Off to the Peachland world of wheels car show tomorrow in the camaro. Weather is supposed to be hot and sunny!

Made a little bit of hay today. Built the heater mount for the vintage heater I am going to use in the car. Happy with the location tucked up and mostly out of sight. Built a rear licence plate mount as well. Basically can't see it with the plate mount which is what I wanted. Welded studs for the holes so simple install. Two more items off the list...

Got the ign, lights and heater switch mounted where I wanted in the dash. Tucked away to the left of the steering column as I want to keep the dash as clean as possible. Got the cowl top hard mounted as well. I decided to drill out the original nutserts on the firewall and replace them with the new style nutserts I have been using. They give a lot more threads which I like. I used the button head Allen bolts just to hold it for now. I want to use a nice stainless truss head Phillips screw but to my surprise I couldn't find them anywhere locally! Found them on aliexpress for $8 with free shipping for a box of 100. Sad that I had to order them from the other side of the world. Chased all the threads on the window side mount and they are all perfect. Nice tight fit so happy with that. Also fabbed up some mounts for the fan. Would have been great to run a mechanical fan but the set up just doesn't give me room so electric fan is the only choice. It hides away pretty well behind the grill I think. Rad will be painted black anyways.

I bought this NOS guide accessory light off eBay. Been looking for the right one at a good price. Thing is super clean. Fabbed up a simple mounting bracket and mounted it off the bottom of the quarter to run as a backup light. Think it looks cool and matches the contour of the 35 Ford headlights I will be running. I am pondering building a little contoured shield in the English wheel to protect it from debris off the tire.

You know I love your build, very similar to mine, but IMHO those back up lights look out of place. It takes away from the clean look you got going on back there. They look vulnerable to damage. My 2cts.

I know and I get it in a perfect world I wouldn't run one but to get the car registered I have to have one. I am just running this single light so it looks a little better than having two sticking out and looks a little more hot rod just having the one. I also think it will actually be good to have one. I'm not getting any younger and my night eyes ain't what they used to be.

No offense implied believe me, nothing wrong with a back up light but you're creative enough to come up with a better idea

Holy shit I'm totally offended! Ha ha I appreciate the feedback. I actually like just the single light like I have it. It's funny I have looked a lot and have see almost no coupes with backup lights. Am I the only guy that is blind at night?

In Ole Ontariario I didn't need backup lights but I needed a licence plate light. I am in the no camp...vintage or not but its a law in Lumberville... I suppose once its all one color it may look less in yer face.

    "Aye"

    Something to ponder
    FGver1.jpg
    FGver2.jpg

I dunno but maybe this balances out
the situation...When I scaled the plate down the bracket was still
quite visible in a negative way so it has been trimmed away
under the plate. The theme of single sorta goes with
    the one fog light thing.

I like the one with the plain license plate light and the single backup centered.
