This car had a Hot Rod feature back in the green page days, think the pipes came all the way back past the rear axle, great car. Bob

McCulloch or Paxton, depending on the year. I think it was very early in the '60's when they began to market them as Paxtons. It is blowing into Hilborn stack injection.

Is that the same muffler shop Gary Essman drove for?

  9. Gary drove for Jim Miles Magic muffler. Gary was in the car when the engine lost it's guts on the line at LIONS. Scotty's T was a fixture at So Cal strips in the 50's. It was driven by Cub Barnett. The blower was a later addition. Unblown, the ARDUN went 200 at Bonneville in Scottys tank. The roadster behind it was the Burkhardt, Breamer and Burns blown De Soto powered altered. It was a record holding car, running 163 on gas.

Scottys roadster, with all eight exhaust pipes with megaphone tips was in the Springfield Illinois area in the summer of 1960. No blower just hilborn set up. Only saw it one time at drag strip at Springfield. It was a real work of art but already heavier and down on power compared to newer cars and power plants. Famous car.

  14. Yeah, the body was a real steel Ford body. No fiberglass when it was built.

    Hey Guys,
For all of the new HAMB members: search Scottys Muffler Service and a ton of stuff pops up for your information. It has been well documented here on the HAMB and on the internet.

Scotty's Muffler Service was a show quality car that was a fast roadster at the drags. We were lucky to have come across it in the pits at Riverside Raceway in 1959. This was a big meet with the emphasis on the name FED racers.

In the pits, the Scotty's Roadster stood out because of the quality of the build. It was impressive to say the least. In a place full of Hemi, SBC, Lincoln motors, etc, this Ardun powered roadster was doing his own thing...
