I missed seeing this one. Thanks for posting the picture. Years ago at the Spectacular in Lancaster, Ohio I saw a kool sectioned truck that reminded me of this one. Trying to find my pics.....

  4. Great truck Doc! It is one of my favorites as well. The 70s Riviera front end might cause a lot of people to shiver, but I think it really works.
I recently bought a copy of the '94 Leadsled Spectacular that was in Huntsville, Alabama. Video Bob Huff of Action Video interviewed the owner and builder Paul Atkinson of Eldon, Missouri. He gave a lot of details about the build that most people would never know about.
Paul started on the truck in 1990, and it was completed in late '93. He said that there are parts off of 20 different vehicles in the truck. For the front end he took 18 inches out of the '72 Riviera hood and nose and narrowed it 3 inches to fit. He used a '72 Cadillac bumper center to tie it all in. Not including the time it took for Paul's brother to do the interior, he said the build took over 4000 hours! He affectionately called the truck the "48 Cheviera".
Paul looked to be an older guy, so he might not be with us now some 23 years later. Shame you couldn't make a deal on the truck Doc. Sure would be cool to see it on the road again. Hopefully it isn't lost forever..........E

And he doesn't have to wash the dishes afterward.

The truck was the talk of the Hangin Dice show. It would be kool to see it running around again.

@drdave, here is a pic of the rear end. My finger got in the pic of the frontend. I took this at the Back to the 50`s in Minnesota. Scan0317.jpg

  9. Thanks for the pic of the rear end of the truck. I always felt like the back end didn't live up to the front. For years I've pondered how to combine the riviera back end with the pick up fenders and bed....in a Dream Truck sort of way.

  10. Chevy made it to paint this week. It comes home tomorrow and will be ready for Indy next week.

Is that supposed to look like a dried up marshmallow?

    Love the tail light placement!

  15. Picked up the Chevy today. John Meyer and his crew at Clean Cut Creations did a super job. Mick is bringing Ron Myers down from Tulsa tomorrow to stripe it.

LONG TIME COMING...!!! The last time the Caddy Boys were together was in Salina, Kansas, long about 2008 (I think). On Saturday, June 3, 2017, Ron Brown finally got his '56 Caddy done, drove in from Elizabeth, ColoRODo to Denver . He has a few bugs to work out yet, as does every new car, but he made it to the Buick, Olds Pontiac, Cadillac show on Saturday with the rest of the "Caddy Boys" and took a First Place award. After that show, we drove 40 miles across Denver to Golden for the Super Cruise and were able to make a couple of passes before we had to leave due to mechanical issues. All in all, we had a great time showing off the Caddy's.

R- Left to right: My brother, Dan - his '54 Caddy, my '55 Caddy and Ron's '56.

The photo below was shot in 2008 - Salina, Kansas -Dan's '54 was nearly completed at the time, it just needed more flames. My '55 was in primer about two years before the Lavendar paint and Ron's '56 was still in stark white.

  29. Fun weekend with Mick and Ron Myers out to the house for Ron to stripe the Chevy, Merc and whatever else I could throw at him. Great time hanging out and telling lies.

One of the projects I had to finish in prepping the car to head to Indy this week was install the new handle plastics Juan Ramirez of Chevybombs did for me while the car was gone. They turned out awesome!

Still got a lot of cleaning to do, but hey, we keep hoods closed on kustoms, right? Maybe I won't waste a lot of time on the engine compartment. LOL
