New weight breaks for you fuelie guys. I'm still waiting to see how Quain is going to settle the old style intake rule. Hope he lets us shed another 50. Or, 100 more would really get the wrenches flying!!

Yes. For example I am 427 cubes. 427 x 8 = 3416. I can weigh 3216 since I am fuel injected. The smaller the engine the more percentage of the total weight it is.

What I'm saying is that the class minimum in C/G is 2500lbs. You wouldn't get that 200lbs if the Bad Banana was already at the class minimum, right?

I had that conversation with Quain about mine. You can go below the minimum if your engine size lets you. Example, and this came from Quain, I will be running D/Gas with 306 cubic inches at 10 pounds per cube would be 3060. With iron heads -50 and old style intake -50 my car would be legal at 2960 even though the minimum for D/Gas is 3000 lbs. He admits the rule is a little confusing, no need to double penalize for a small engine.

  7. Ha! I'm 100 lbs heavy right now. That's a tough one finding 100 lbs to cut out.

The heads are well oiled and pretty clean

  9. between the bottom two cylinders there seems to be a oil pattern coming from a stud hole. is this possible the cause.

I think you are referring to this splotch of oil on the head??

  11. That's oil from my experiment. I removed the rockers and pumped the oil to see how much was coming up through the head. Then removed the head and also pumped it to see if the cam bearing had rotated and blocked the oil passage. I'm actually surprised at how little oil is coming up there. Its not blocked - the cam just passes by the hole briefly so there isn't a lot of flow.

When you see a piston with carbon in the center and practcally clean around the edges as we see in this engine you can be fairly certain the oil is getting past the rings and washing the edges so heavily that the carbon is in the center and almost none around the edges, just sorta stained.

The good news is you can hone the cylinders now.
The Grump found some H/P when he re honed after the engine was run in.

When I met her my friends said "Notice anything weird?" I'm like "She has a freeze dried cat" They said it was a red flag ....... but damn that thing is handy - keeps the birds from nesting in my bolt box.
