DSCF8305.JPG DSCF8306.JPG Bill Schindler in the Harley Knucklehead powered Midget "The Catfish". This is the car I sold back in 1974 an hour after I unloaded it a garage full of race car parts. Some cut out the photo and glued it to a piece of wood and made a pinback. Bob

It might be now, but it was built for a narrow-gauge short line in England:

1957 : Built as a B.M.W “Isetta” bubble car (no. A10404) in the former London, Brighton & South Coast
    Railway workshop building at Brighton.
July 1966 : Acquired by R.P Morris, who duly converted it for rail use at Longfield, Kent
1968 : Operated on the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway, Beds.
1969 : Footage of it operating at Leighton Buzzard featured in the I.T.V programme ‘Magpie’
May 1970 : Operated on the Wychwood Light Railway, near Leamington Spa

It appears to have survived in Wales.

    Hello Fred,
somehting like this on short films?

Some of shown could be scalled-down models? But, anyway magnificent - cyclecars compared to real, big locomotives and trains!

    Ciao,
    Zoran

That would be it. I've been building the models for 20 years. I saw the big models in '03 when visiting the UK and had to build one for myself.

As a model car / train guy, too, I just love these off the wall gizmos. I have a plan for a model eatery on a future layout. It will serve BBQ pork sandwiches and be call the 'Feast-on-hog" Café. har har. Gary

Thanks for posting that. It's the only time I've seen Mt Ventoux without bicycles on it.;)

The American Pickers Special looks suspiciously similar to a car that appeared briefly in a shop scene in the 1954 movie "Drive a Crooked Road," starring Mickey Rooney as a hapless but mechanically talented sporty-car technician.

There were a few of these made back in the day. I think that the movie car was the Huish Special, which appeared in Mechanix Illustrated:

The two chrome gadgets in front of the windshield, air intake at the left shoulder and the blister on the side all match the Crooked Road car:

The bumper with overriders is different, and fits the car better.
