Hello folks got my new cam, lifters, push rods , timing set gaskets and assembly lube BIG QUESTION DO I SOAK THE LIFTERS..... THEY HAVE BEEN IN OIL STANDING UP FOR 2 DAYS ... I heard some people do and some don't ..Did I screw up thanks
What you want is camshaft break-in lube. It should come w/ the cam & lifters. You can "bleed'' the lifters submerged in oil if you want - doesn't actually make any difference.
I always soak lifters whether hydraulic or solids. Makes it easier when spinning the oil pump to fill up every thing. I also stand the hollow push rods in oil too for the same reason.
Buick pushrods are solid, so no need to soak anything in oil.. Lube the ends and the pockets they set in, lube lifter sides and cam break in lube on the face and away you go.
