History TV Tommy IVO the early years

I keep forgetting to ask Moriarity if the Turbo kart he has is the real one from the photo. You wouldn't happen to know?

 

No clue and never personally talked with him

Wow had no idea Tom was as much a racer as he was. Always associated him with the 4 engine car and just thought he was aTV personality that played with cool cars.

 

Bad day for Tommy

 

Here is a picture of Tommy with Big Daddy Ed Roth and Tom Davison. Tom as a teen had just won 'best paint' award at the Revell National Model Car Contest in '63 and is posing with the legends in front of a trophy. That is quite a trophy for Tom D. to get home!! Revell's trophy for us also-rans is shown in the second photo. I won this one in '64 at the local division at my local hobby shop before the car was sent to LA for national judging. Didn't win there. I don't know what the premise of the photo is, why Tommy was in it.

Below is a picture of Tom's wining paint job. Pretty radical for a 1/25th scale car in '63.

That car was on the cover of one of my first HRM's and was one that set the hot rod hook in me. Stance, look, fit and finish jumped right out at me along with the listed speed of over 110 in the quarter.

loudbang, I went to the Tucson drag reunion earlier this year and saw Tommy Ivos dragster in the glass trailer. Do you know who owns that car? And is it the original car? you have great knowledge on the old cars, I was just wondering if ma have that information. Thank you.
