Thanks guys. Pretty amazing to finally hear it live. Can't wait to row the gears now. Engine Specs are 1959 Lincoln 430 that came out of alcohol injected drag boat. Crank has been off set ground to bring it up to around 480 ci. Cam is reground Isky solid, as you can hear not a lot duration. But with that many cubic inches it's probably a little more rowdy than we know. Heads have been worked over a little but they don't need much in street car. Isky 1.5 rockers, pushrods and valve springs. Jahns 10.5:1 pistons Edelbrock 6x2 intake Vertex Magneto Toploader 4spd into 9 inch with 3.73 gears.
the gasser i built is 430 powered did you hook up the rear intake manifold water ports ?? i hope so water flows thru block up rear of heads thru intake [stock] to w/p i ran 5/8 hoses from the rear fittings to a home made collector type box to heater hose fitting on water pump and 3/8 hoses from the front of intake to a tee in the outlet hose from the box to pump note the stock larger intake gasket water holes face the rear and you need to punch 3/8 holes in gasket front offy gaskets have even holes but you need the water to go thru the block to rear ports [also hope you installed the water pump deflecters in the block] my 430 NEVER overheated using mechanical w/p driven fan. great to see another MEL powered car enjoy johnny o
Very cool, it's fun to see more of these beasts wake up! Vintakes is right they have curious water circulation. Mine would start to heat if sitting for 20 min. in TX traffic. Once I got moving it dropped immediately. When I went from 4 blade fan to 6, it absolutely will not get hot.
Bumping this back to the top. What a cool hot rod. that thing cold starts easier with 6 carbs than mine with 1!
