I absolutely love that A. Those clashing design elements work better than they have any right to. It looks like a model car as built by a creative kid in the early-mid '60s!
The curves of the hood and grille opening are very well handled, and the headlights are possibly the least offensive solution given their context. The transition in the cowl area is a little awkward, but not as much of a disaster as might be expected.
I would love to see this car finished. Put some fat pie-crust slicks on it so there's a little rubber showing outside the rear fenders (because the widened body is strange and throwing off the proportions back there), and a nice tuck n' roll interior...get rid of that crap slathered all over the roof...and it could be a truly 1 of a kind vehicle.

The custom chevy PU is awesome too. Love the stacks poking through the bed rails!

Damn it, Highlander already called dibbs on the '55, but I'd rock this little baby-bird anyday. And I ain't even a Ford guy...

I'd love to have that A! Finish it in mile deep candy paint, shiny chrome wires, tuck-n-roll. Mmmmmm

I was thinkin' old school 301, but a bbc is fine, as long as it's a 427...
Come to think of it, a 301 might work better in the '55, traditionally speaking...hmmm...:D

I like the "A" it smells of early 60s show car, a wild paint job and I drive it with a big smile :)

Who on Earth would be foolish enough to build a Model A custom?!

Ugly but very interesting. With all that skilled body work, it would be a real shame to turn it back into a stock style body. It definitely needs to be finished, deepen the front wheel arches, a wild interior and patterned lace metallic paint job. This has the potential to be a real show car and even a trophy winner !

That's one way to make an A roomy inside.

How many pounds of bondo are in the roof of that thing? And I imagine there is a lot more smeared all over the car.

You'd have to be nuts huh... we all know you can only build one from a book and not deviate at all except in colour and chop............lot of interesting shapes on that thing, could be awesome treated with some 60's thinking

hope you aren't going to let this mad man do any of this sort of stuff to that 32 3wdw, for God's sake!

  24. I talked to someone that knows of the car and he said it might have been built as a magazine car, the original car had a 49 Mercury hood and the current hood was added later. I'll find out more one the car next week when i go back.

  25. He didn't do the work to the Model A, he bought it like this many years ago...the 32 is almost done so no, nothing else will be done to the 32.

wow. that guy could charge admission to have people look at his collection.:)

as for the car, in my mind what to do with it depends more on where it's been than how it looks. if this was done in 1989 and never left the garage then you can change whatever you want.
