I did what Rot n Custom suggested with my '60 T-Bird, I blacked out the grill, took off the vertical "teeth" and polished the horizontal bar. I also shaved the nose emblem, removed and filled the bumper over riders, filled the bumper bolts and painted the headlight door body color (Emerald green). Simple but elegant.
I agree with you, I also like the '59 grill best out of the '58-60 T-Bird grills but then it would look stock.
Maybe a cut down '57 Buick would look good. Rot n Custom, can you "shop" one in there for us?

'57 Buick in the TBird mouth. A little busy, but OK.
    Comes with 2 cautions:
1 - There are two different '57 grilles in different sizes.
2 - Measure both the bumper opening and the grille. I'm not sure this rendering will work in real life, as the proportions may be off.

I actually really like the 57 Buick grill, but I am also not sure it would work in real life without doing some measuring and figuring lol I am going to try and remove all but the center bar and black out the grill I think, looks like a simple but decent looking fix for now til I can actually find a 59 grill or maybe a different idea will come up that I like even more! bchctybob can you post or send me a few pictures of your bird with the grill and such done, like to see it!

Sometimes I look at the front of a car and I can't help but see cartoonish human faces staring out at me. This one looks like a teenager with braces, and prominent eyebrows, with a dorky look on his face.

    Two more suggestions...
'58 Buick – black out the mounting bracketry and you get a whole bunch of floating faceted chrome squares.

Or '59 Buick – again, black out the mounting bracketry for floating faceted chrome rectangles, which might work better to accent the width of your grill opening....

I have a couple 57 Buick grilles. What measurements do you need. I will be at the Missouri Valley swapmeet the 4th of June as a spectator.

  14. Follow Watson, Bullets, drawer pulls do the trick.

  15. Here's a simple treatment removing the bumper guards. I've thought about mounting a couple of small LED fog lights in those holes. K.I.S.S.

This would be perfect if I had a '59 Grille, sadly the 60 grille isn't near as attractive in my opinion
