  2. Ha Ha, anytime you wanna run that Chevy, I'm ready Dave. In the video shot from the stands, pay close attention to how quickly and definitively I walked away from the 57.

I was thinking of going to Richmond Dragway for another Friday night test and tune in August or September 'cause I've yet to make a full pass. If I do go, I'll make sure you know so you can bring the Chevy out. ;)

  5. Couple of small updates – I finally put in a shifter boot, and I added a couple of bell exhaust tips. The pipes are all stainless, so I'll smooth out the welds and from the spring back, I'll polish them.

Always good to see details on that car. Is the rear spring somethin custom made? Bob

  7. Watching the build from the beginning it is really cool to see you running down the strip. HRP

  8. Thank you Bob, both the front and rear springs are custom made by Thurston Spring Service here in Richmond. On the rear I ended up adding 3 or four 1/4 inch spacer pieces at the top.

Thanks man, I really love drag racing although I don't do it enough to be good.

Finished up the polishing on my new bell exhaust tips. What a P-I-T-A with the pipes on the car.

  10. Polish first, then weld.

  11. Thanks Sam, that's helpful. ;)

You tired Bruce? Should be a big update soon.

  12. You gonna have the Shock mount fixed by Sat for The open house at Dougs? @D-Russ

  13. Unfortunately, no Jason. Gotta make a fan shroud too. I'm heavy into the Effie right now and I only have so much time, so Miss Vicky will probably be pushed into the corner for a while.

  15. So you're probably wondering about the big update ...

    I added fenders!

And 18 inch wires and blackwalls!

    NOT.

The big news is that Miss Vicky made the big time – The Rodder's Journal! So She'll be in the upcoming issue, number 75. And to top it off, She made the subscription cover! This is a HUGE honor for me and I'm pumped!
I guess I can quit building cars now because nothing will ever top this. :)

Big thank yous go out to the Rodder's Journal folks – Steve Coonan, Geoff Miles, and Joey Ukrop. I sincerely thank you guys for making this happen. I'm blown away.

    Well deserved!
I remember when you came by and picked up the hemi wire covers. That was some time ago.

  23. And the 354! I bought the motor from you for $550 and I think you threw in the chrome wire covers for free! Thanks a ton man. So I guess indirectly, you made the Rodder's Journal too!

Just think, the faded red oxide rat rod in my avatar is the same car!

We're not worthy! We're not worthy!

Congrats Dave! It's nice to see a real home built vehicle get such good press.
Every inch of that car is spot on, dead nuts perfection. Having seen it in person progress from the "what have you gotten yourself into?" project stage to the "hey its on the road (with no glass)" stage, all the way to now, man that thing is sweeeeet!
Enjoy the accolades, they are WELL deserved.

  29. Thanks for all the kind words guys! I really haven't done anything that the rest of you haven't already done. I'm just a hack with a mig welder and a grinder.

Scott, I want to publicly thank you for towing Miss Vicky up to the Detroit Autorama and Doug Walker for the trailer loan. We ran into a pretty good snow storm on the way up, so driving the car would have been very bad.
