I have been following along and you really are doing a great job!! You have a few set backs but hey the TROG is coming and you will make it happen.

Man oh man that car looks great! You won't need brakes George! Is that a starter button on the dash? Where did you get that?

Thanks Ronnie! Yes, I gotta have SOME brakes!! Ha ha!..Yes, that is my starter button..I snagged it from work(with all my other wiring stuff) but I can get you the part number..It all fits nicely...Your "A" job is looking AWESOME!

Holy COW!! What did you do Ray? Throw a hand grenade on it? I'm sure it'll be all pretty and nice for TROG! Lets go my brothers to the north! Get yer junk together so we can kick up some sand!!

 

Progress continues..Got my radiator back from the shop and it should be leak free..Turns out,a stock 32 rad has rivets in the lower tank that attaches to the lower brace.. Those rivets were all leaking underneath so major surgery was needed..Cut the brace out,repair the whole lower tank and replace the brace..
I decided to run a full hood,like a lot of the salt racers did for less wind resistance. So,to that end,I'm going to stick with stock manifolds for now and added a set of exhaust dumps. Once again,in my pile-o'-junk ,I used the scraps of the Corvette chrome exhaust pipes to make some shiny head pipes.. manifolds will get painted with high temp paint...
After playing with about 4 different generators,I was able to put one together that works. As a result I could finish wiring up the voltage regulator. All under the seat to hide it because I'm not sophisticated enough to get cloth covered wiring yet.

 

Cutting and splicing the hood today. The hood sides just didn't look right with the slight uphill slope of my hood. There was just no way to make them fit so out with the sawzall and pie slice the hood! Added a filler piece,ground smooth.

Thanks guys.. I'll never be accused of building a really trick car..a simple and pragmatic approach is what works for me..

 

Making some test runs today,getting tuned up for The Jalopy Showdown this weekend..All was going so well until more setbacks. Friggin' chinese junk waterpumps decided they had it..Epic water loss..Can't get pumps locally..Anyone in the NJ area got a good set of 38-48 Truck waterpumps I can use until I get replacements?..

In between this mess,I got my hood all done and back together..Even put a little black lacquer on the sides..Might be able to get paint on the whole car before TROG if it survives the weekend! Ha ha!

 

What a great little car!

 

Took it to The Jalopy Showdown this weekend and ran in the Hotrod class(wasn't cool enough for the roadster class, I guess?)..Little car ran and performed well..Very pleased with how she held up..No issues or than the generator quit working..

I missed the showdown this year, guess ill have to wait till TROG to see your roadster George! That this is awesome really look killer!

Ha ha! Hey Ray, I'm not done with mine either..Gotta put some paint on it so I don't get out shined(pun intended) by those Tornado guys!..

 

More shots at speed..I'm very happy with how she runs and looks considering it was put together in such a short time..
