Was inspecting the 41 front suspension and noticed the upper control arm pin shifted back and forth. I was looking at the Plymouth service manual and didn't really see anything about changing this part. Does anyone have a procedure for doing this task?

They are threaded. Remove the coil spring and then you can put a socket on the bushings, do each side a little bit at a time, should come right off.

  5. Duke..........that pic from Ralloyd shows the upper inner pin & bush.......you don't need to remove the spring coil however you WILL need to support the lower A arm with a jack and also support the chassis as well, once supported its sometimes easier to remove the complete upper A arm then place it in a vice held by the actual pin and place a large socket & bar with a piece of tube over the bar handle for extra leverage and undo.......these can be VERY tight to crack undone initially however once it moves its fairly easy to undo........you will need to note EXACTLY where the outer bush/pin are set as this adjusts the Camber and if not put back in the same place will mean a front end alignment will have to be done............also the new inner pin & bush must be centrally located between the inner upper arms........also need to undo the upper shock mount before removing the upper arm.........the description of all this should be in the Front Axle chapter in your workshop manual...............its not a difficult job but fiddly and as I mentioned its easier with the upper arm assembly on the bench then trying to duck under the fender tho' to get it on the bench does require undoing more bits .................regards, Andy Douglas
