The 1947's turned 70 years old this year. Most were upgraded versions of the 46's which were upgraded versions of the pre-war 42's. New styles for the most part didn't start appearing until the 49's came out, at least for Ford and it's divisions anyway. The 47's are kinda overlooked being in the middle of that post war period, people remember the first cars built after the war years, the 46's, and the 48's for being the last of the pre-war designs. Let's see your 47's, any make, any model. Here's my 47 Lincoln Club Coupe, commonly called a Zephyr because it used the same body as the 42's but was not called that from the factory. They dropped the Zephyr name after the 42's, but the public still called them that because they looked just like the previous cars. Pardon the later wheel/tire combo on mine, they are going to be replaced in the future with Torque Thrusts or Ansen style slots and blackwall tires.
That is one nice looking Lincoln. I normally see Continentals and have a 48. I'll have to check production figures since I rarely see the coupe's. Movin/on
I've never been able to find production numbers broken down by body style. They may be out there, but all I've seen is total production for Lincoln and Lincoln Continental. Just using the total figures and guessing, I figure 4 door sedans were probably highest production, with Coupes being probably about 1/4 or less. I guesstimate around 5-6000 coupes built, just on averages. Maybe more, maybe less.

her 70th sounds like a great year to come back to life. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Heres my 47. Just picked her up last week. Unmolested, still running the 59ab and 3spd. Gonna be going for a mild 50's custom look
Early 47 Ford. Basically, a holdover 1946. 60s vintage hot rod. 283 sbc, powerglide, 10 bolt rear with parallel leafs. 66 chevelle buckets. I'm replacing all the wiring, fuel and brake lines, installing new disc brakes, a fuel tank, and wheels and tires. Then I'll decide what to do with the 70 year old.
