A few years ago I ran into this one-off 1940 Ford sedan hiboy built by a master metal man. The car is very traditional with a flathead, 39 box, Halibrand QC and dropped axle. The design was first drawn and then transferred into the beautiful example you see below. Not to everyone's liking, but to me, I thought it represented a Hot Rod design not thought of in a long time.
The builder definitely built something different. I have never seen the car before. I sure would like to see a full side view of the car.Looks like the workmanship is at a very high level. Thanks for posting.
If someone told me they were going to do this I would tell 'em they're crazy but, when a true craftsman has a vision and follows through with excellent execution, strange miracles can happen.
Very nice hotrod, not my cup of tea but the level of talent and skill to LAN and u'll do this ride is very high who ever done it, I see a very high dollar car sitting there it's a beautiful cari admire he quality of work that goes into a project like these cars that I see on here everyday lol, it never ceases to amaze me how great of car builders we have in these here united states and around the world, hotrod harry Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app HotRod Harry
20 some odd years ago I had a picture of that car hanging on my shop wall until I caught a trash can below it on fire while grinding and the picture perished. I agree that it is the best done "highly modified" 40 that I have seen.
35-40 Ford Hiboys always seem to look goofy. I think its the location of the front axle, if it were moved forward they may not look so out of proportion. Here's a 37 sedan that I saw at the Turkey Run a few years ago.
Similar: 1937 Ford Phaeton started 02 finished it 2012 extended the wheel base 10 in. narrowed the body 8 in. on Deuce Rails.
I like all three cars. The 40 I wouldn't change a thing, the 37 Sedan I'd change the tires and a few little things, the 37 Phaeton is just as nice as the 40, or nicer. I wouldn't change anything on it either.
Best one Ive seen yet, but I think it took the major modifications to make it look right in this configuration.
