I have a set of 40's Ford wishbones that I split for my 35 Ford PU.
There seems to be a sleeve or bushing in the perch, it's worn down and I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and if there is a replacement or aftermarket sleeve or bushing.
Sorry, no pic, I'm at work.

    Thanks

It's probably the outer shell of the shackle stud. Use a hacksaw to cut the thin shell and you can push it out. If you use original style shackles the new studs will have the insulator and shell on them. If you go new hot rod style they will probably come with urethane bushings.

I will give this a try.
The new set up is a 4" axle drop with posies reverse eye spring and chassis eng. shocks.

The perch has some play in it. It's not a snug fit, which I would assume it needed to be - but this is my first build, so I'm unsure.

  6. what part are you calling a "perch"? where the axle and wishbone join? i'm confused

The front of the wishbone where the leaf spring & shock meet the 3 pronged "assembly"

There were rubber ones, however they will not fit - so I will attempt to remove the metal sleeve/ bushing that's in there now.
I will get a pic a post it before I do anything this evening.

  10. Pete and Jakes has those shackle bushings and can have them to you in a couple of days.

Any aftermarket shackle is gonna require you to remove all of the original shackle stud and its thin steel housing. All you should have left before you put the new urethane bushing into the hole is the plain forged Ford perch.

Matt, I misunderstood your text. I thought you were talking about the pin where the wishbone attached. My bad.

The bushings can be bought made of oilite material. Screw those poly bushings.

Sounds good, who's the vendor/ part number?

    Thanks!

  15. Call Pete and Jakes @ 800-334-7240. Tell 'em what you have and they will fix you up. I can't remember the part# but they're inexpensive, $4.80 ea.

Finally got to the perches today.
I used a jewelers hacksaw to cut reliefs in the bushings, then took a chisel and hammer and folded the top in and then used a brass punch and hammer to knock the old bushing out.

I replaced it with the rubber ones that came with the kit, but I'm keeping the oilite bushings in mind for down the road.

    Thanks for the help.

    I'm trying!
I put the front end back together yesterday and bolted in the transmission plate.
The wishbone frame tabs should arrive today so I can get those welded on.
And I did get the differential mocked up this past week and spot welded in.
