No, rear end is tubbed. Used ladder bars and coilovers from speedway.

There's a bar between the frame rails that the shocks mount to on top.

My 53 Cranbrook same car my dad had in the sixties till he had a head on with it in 66. Still on our old property in the bush. I thought it would be cool to drive around in the same type of car the old man had 201707131519141000.jpg

This was the plymo before I bought it (been sitting for 10+ years)

Still lots of work to do, planning to put a desoto export grill and a 230 on it as I got this 54 desoto few weeks ago to complete the plymo, and eventually cruise in summer w/o roof haha.

333B30B7-D385-4A45-9429-66133CCD71E6.jpeg Just picked up this gem at the Portland Auto Swap on Friday. Overall it is pretty sound with minimal rust, all stock and it runs. I appreciate all the post on this thread for custom ideas. I have a couple questions.
    1. The exhaust pipe is rusted out so I am planning to have the exhaust from the manifold back redone. I was looking at a single Cherry Bomb muffler. Would this work well on the stock motor?
    2. I see Fat Man Fab has lowered uprights but it requires updating to disc brakes. Is there a way to lower the car a couple inches with out converting to disc? On a budget.

    Any help is appreciated

I hope a 49 will be close enough for this thread.

Here’s how my 49 Dodge looked when I got it about 7 years ago. Just drove the hell out of it but the primered look finally got to me
    Dodge.jpg

After hours of wet sanding the primer off I found a fair amount of original or very old paint

So after painting the roof an almond color, a little pin striping, new wheels, I ended up with this

This car has always been a driver, it lives in the street and sometimes in my driveway. It’s my “extra car” per say. When my kid comes home from college she takes my pick up and I drive the 49, sometimes for months. It handles my 70 mile commute with ease as these were really well built cars. Car still has the original fluid drive 3spd manual, 230 flat head with a few intake and exhaust mods. Dual Webers and an 8” rear with 3.00 gears.
