The 55 is my daily driver, just a great car to drive with the 235 / 3 speed OD...I keep it well maintained and it´s mostly original paint , no rust , just a few scratches, so it´s not a shame to use it every day. But I have to admit, my other cars are 2 doors:)

  19. Damn! Now you tell me! Getting all of it to fit right, drilling and tapping all the running board holes in the frame, installing nutserts in the body for the rear fenders, cutting, welding and modifying the Brookville left front fender to fit makes me agree with you! Too late now through!

when I bought my Green 49 Chevrolet 4 door 15 years ago a good friend of mine who has had more hot rods than anyone I know took one look at it and cautioned me to not put too much money in it, since it is a 4 door. like I am some sort of idiot and he is the old car authority. I paid $5200 for it, and sold it a few years later for $7500.00, it would be worth even more now.
same car different butthead. he came right to the point: "why'd you buy a four door?". I told him "because fuck you that's why". ;)

had a very nice original paint 62 Caddy Sedan Deville before they were worth much in the 80's. 90,000 original miles, PERFECT black leather interior. it did have a scrape on one rear door, and rust in the lower front fenders. the trunk looked unused with original spare tire. if I painted it, it could have been in a concourse. the guy I sold it to drove it to San Diego and back from the Bay Area over a weekend. that's how great it was. had it for sale and some clown comes to look and tells me it would be a good parts car. I should have punched him in the nose, but rather just told him to go away. I still see the guy at swap meets selling flea market junk.

When I bought my Chevelle it was for the front clip because I had my eye on a Elcamino that needed a front clip.
I was waiting on the guy to find the title for El co so I started working on the 4 door and by the time he found the title I had so much work ing the 4 door that I just didn't have the hart to knock it in the head so I just passed on the EL co.

    I'm curious.

When did the term "More Door" come into use?

Did any manufacturer use it in their advertising before American Motors did for their 1966 station wagons?
