As long as there is multiple carburation, Mechanical Stack injection or a supercharger I love them all.
The Hemi's are visually hard to beat and the big Olds are cool as hell but I'm still hooked on the high reving wail of a Old school Small Block Chevy.[IMG]

I like the 59 Olds 371,had one in a 53 super 88 2 door that would rev like a smallblock and had plenty of torque plus would get good gas mileage if I did not put my foot down too far.

Nothing exotic or really even that old, but I like the W engines........Ford Windsors that is. Seems like I've always had a 289, 302, or 351 around in something. Current project is the 5.0 or 302 roller cam engine going into the Lincoln. Great little engines that make decent power for their size. I can forgive the water pump being held on with umpteen different sized bolts in exchange for the easy to get to front distributor. Have had at least one in the stable since I was 17, except for a few dark years in the 80's when I drove a Toyota pickup and the wife drove a small Pontiac 4 cyl, both for gas mileage reasons. Had other Fords and Chevys, but always return to the small block Windsors.

Nothing wrong with them and the right stroke and some heads to back it.

  12. LOL As it should be. :D

On the day the music died just a thought, as hot rodders there is no reason to believe that the chevy driven to the levee has anything in it but something else, Rocket, flathead, SBF. :D

When I used to run Super Sport Chevelle's, I don't recall many (any?) 383 Mopar outrunning me. In fact my 70 SS 396 used to be a toss up with my cousin's 440 Cuda. Sometimes he'd get me, sometimes I'd get him. Giving up a lot of cubic inches, that 396 gave as good as it got.

LOL! I no longer own any Chevelle's or big block Chevy's. Right now I'm running an old 283 in an A, and loving it! But it wouldn't run with a big block Chevelle.

The hemi in my 34. No bling, just a good solid well built motor. Love listening to it on the start up. Porn for my ears.

The Packard V8. Back in '56, the 374" Packard was the biggest thing out there. My parents owned a Hudson Hornet with the Packard V8 and I did my first tune-up on it; been hooked ever since. The '56 Studebaker Golden Hawk with the 352" V8 was the quickest, fastest car made; it beat Corvette, Thunderbird and Chrysler 300 in magazine road tests.

    Here's a couple of many I've built.

The Studebaker V8 is my second favorite and I've built a bunch of those. It shares with the Packard V8 the siamesed center exhaust port and for some reason gives them a unique sound.

  23. Of the engines I've had in my own driving cars, I'm partial to small block Mopars. But I really haven't had much variety honestly. Kicking around the idea of putting one in my T but they were introduced a bit late and that fact kind of bothers me.

My way OT plan. Mercedes late 90's, supercharged, twin cam, 4 valve inline 4 with 6 spd manual in a 33/34 Pickup.
Have the engine/tranny, looking for the right P/U.

A blown hemi on fuel. Might just be the greatest sound known to man. For those of you who frequented Bonneville in the 80s and 90s, Al Teague's streamliner with a blown KB was the best. Out on the salt we'd wait at the 3 mile for him to go by. His 3-4 shift would be right in front of us - still makes the hair stand up on my arms. Then he'd get small in a hurry, with a rooster tail of salt behind him, and the sound echoing off of the mountains nearby. Unreal.
