That Falcon was from Niagara Falls and raced at Cayuga Dragway.. Had a 230 Chevy 6 in it....... back in the time we used flat tow to the track......

I took these photos at a local show in 2013.
This is believed to be the first recorded dragster built in New Zealand in 1956.
It features a hot GMC 6 and parts supposedly found at the dump.
The car is still active, competing in pre 59' dirt drags still under the ownership of only the 2nd owner.

The Jimmy brings back memories of the shit we did back then. You could go to a outlaw strip and worry if your car would pass what ever inspection they had and I assure there would be cars there a lot worse than yours. We were good guys we just did not know any better.

Those of us who survived those shaky cars usually wised up to build better, safer cars.

A Chevy 6 in a Falcon seemed to be popular back then, here is another one...

Those cut and welded V8 heads worked so well they got outlawed. Looking at adapting an after market small block head on my 153 four.

Didn't Sizemore's I/G Pinto use Cleveland V8 hybrid heads much later on? I know hybrid heads were not legal in Econo classes but was not aware they were ever outlawed in the Gasser classes.

I'm not sure what classes didn't allow them. I do know they worked well enough to squeeze a bit more out of those engines. And I know SBC heads were not the only ones used. Leo's Power Manual mentions using two 181 Mercruiser 8 port heads.

It will still run and is started every so often Built 1974

Another from down under... not to mention a slice of NZ drag racing history.
    Intoducing "Brute Force".
This one's a Fiat Topolino bodied altered built in 1970 by the late Ron Collett running a Wade supercharged Vauxhall 3.3L 6 backed by a powerglide and 53' Merc diff.
Recently restored to 1975 spec's as last raced by Ron where it ran in the low 11s/ high 12s.
