Don Yates in the Yates and Smaldino 4-cylinder car at Saugus...Yates would later drive top fuel cars for John Garren, Jim Ward, and Dick Goss, and partnered with Ed Pink to run the "Mask," chopped '34 Ford fuel coupe.

It is the Thurmond Brothers, originally ran a steel deuce body...you had to watch this car run to appreciate it...they had a channel frame and a heavy body but were still competitive in fuel altered...from San Pedro.

Actually it was Goleman and this shot is from 1966. Gen was fatally injured when he crashed a later Creitz and Greer Woody dragster at Union Grove.

Above is Wheeler Dealer 1--the former Old Master. Al Freidman was the original driver (and in fact drove it on the west coast while it was still in the original configuration) and Bub Reese also steered. Pete Eastwood restored it to the original Ed Pink configuration.

Below is Wheeler Dealer II, a late hemi powered 185" Roy (SPE) car with Hanna body and paint by Cerney. After a check out session at Lions this car made its race debut at the 1969 Hot Rod Magazine champs. Reese also drove this one for Bruce

revised: After that wreck at Detroit Dragway, they installed a new passenger door and Mike Buckel kept the damaged door on his garage wall.

It is a Reliant Scimitar GTE. Not a Pinto part in sight but they were Ford powered (3 litre V6)

    Michelle,
the car that was at the LSRU belongs to Dave West and it is a clone built by the late Pat Foster. The original was destroyed int he crash that took John Mulligan's life.
