I was looking around online at cars when I found what looks like a model a 4 door that the owner wants gone. The listing says it's free to who ever wants to come pick it up. I was suspicious but it's pretty rusty and looks like something big fell on it. I'm looking for something that I can at the very least take the engine out and try to rebuild it but Is it worth going through the trouble of getting it home ? (it's about an hour away) or is it too far gone?

The hood looks good and there are probably lots of other salvageable body, engine and running gear parts..........Only an hour away...........Don't let fear and good sense hold you back.

  12. Looks to be a Briggs bodied 29, so a bit rarer than a regular 4-door.

  14. If you can't go get it now, someone will snap that up real fast.
Show your parents this thread, its the opportunity of a lifetime, even if you figure it's to much work, you could make some money from it.

Tell us where it is and one of us will go get it if you don't. The trailer is hooked up, I've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and I'm wearing sunglasses.

  21. I wouldn't even bother asking.It would be home.

  22. And the horn is there. Go get it, clean it out and get it running and driving. That's one hell of a convertible. People pay big money for patina like that. It's still holds value.

yeah. I'd be a lot further along if my sons sports and the day job didn't get in the way as much.
Anyway, I just wanted to show that rides that are shot are NOT worth turning your back on.
I have a build thread called Phoenix and it shows my learning curve. I became rather proficient in short order with a hammer and dolly
Anyway, that 4 door should be in your shop by now.

  26. Get it even if you don't want a 4 door or if saving the body is beyond your skill level. Looks like it was a pretty solid old car before the tree fell on it. Any '28-'29 body will fit on the chassis and mate up with the nice hood and grille.

Well I called and it turns out some jerk made a fake add and used someone else's number number on the listing so I'm pretty pissed but I guess I'll just keep on looking

Next time consider this: if it's free, it's for me. Not always but often correct.

If you can't take that FREE 28-29 Fordor and part it out for 500-1,000 bucks you better stick with stamp collecting. Bob

Remember this if there's a next time. "YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE" Taking time to ask here and wait for an answer was wasted time that should have been used to call instead of waiting for the opinion of others. Also it alerted others of the ad who may have been able to step in ahead of you and get it if the ad had been real.
