I'm not familiar, but it appears Mr. Sinistri was a study of the SBC, running in D/E/ stock. A healthy 327 I'd assume. Gotta luv that.
Boy you have got that right Loudbang. His son used to post on the HAMB. Sinistri built a lot of great engines for sure.
Do a search of this thread for Ka-Boob-EE and you'll find the whole story of the car. Zorro, Ka-Boob-EE and Wildfire were one in the same car. Verne
Wguy has a great write up on the cars here back in this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/nhra-junior-stock.201085/page-410#post-11469239 Here are the Cars together: Ka-Boob-EE from Johnny Steele Zorro From johnny Steele By Wguy Wildfire again
Im not sure if its been mentioned but these photos were shot by Carl Rubrecht. Carl is a senior on a fixed income, with growing medical bills who sells his images on ebay and at shows around PA. He is also on facebook and is open to inquiries. For those interested, here's a link to his ebay. Thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WATCHMACALL...216512?hash=item25d2ba5400:g:hwgAAOSw4CFY29BL
Been thinking about mentioning that myself. Carl is a really nice guy with tons of great photos, and as you said, on hard times. Buying photos from him supports one of the great photographers from years gone by who could use the help.
Tommy. these photos were taken d, thank you for posting photos of my older brother"s 1958 corvette these photos were taken by Tom McCrea around 1970. thank you Tom and Tommyd !
Drag race your brother's 58 was super competitive as well as looking good. Sometime when you have a spare moment maybe you could fill us in on more of the history of the car. There is a Corvette Hot Rod thread where we really appreciate the background on early Vettes and then we would not clog this thread up with stuff that others may find mundane. Is the car still around?
For sure wondered about that myself even with a 427 It would be a close thing with all that weight and if I remember correctly I don't think you could get the dual quad 427 in full sized car in 1967 only the single quad version. But the stock class classifications were different still in 1967 around 68 they changed and my 390 mustang went from C/S down to E/S with no changes to the car just the rules changed. EDIT: just noticed it's a Canadian dealer sponsor so maybe up north you could get the dual quad 427 as they did things different up there.
My records indicate that Lynda Pleva's car was not just a Galaxie but an LTD. The weight was a little less than one might expect. Today's classification guide lists it at just a tick over 3800#. The car was best known as a D/SA with a 428/360 hp combination although the LTD was available with both the 410 hp and 425 hp combinations so that might account for the B/SA on the window. I think that Lynda won D/SA class in 1968 at Indy with an ET in the 12.70 range. c
Still collecting. When it rains it pours. He has been looking for fenderwell headers for a good while. Just so happens he got a line from Butch on a set in Washington state, A friend who's street rod he works on has a set AND he has found 2 sets of Stahl's 1 set 1 and 5/8ths and one set 1 and 1/2. He was just asking on Facebook the other day about what size would be correct (tubes). He has also put up pics of collected parts, Intake, carbs, ball joint spacers and scads of brand new chrome pieces for the front end. Some his Father had bought for the car and others he got so things would match. He is quite anal when it comes to chrome.
I dont know if it was Linda Pleva but I recall some lady running a hydraulic 427/390 in a 68 LTD at one time
glad to hear he has not given up on the restore, hunting up the parts i can relate to as i am also locating parts for the car i am working on, 1955 2 door 210 post that was last owned by Alex Jarrell before he retired from racing
