    Rootie, I see Joe Garson and Rex Mays for sure. But who are the others? Thanks for posting.

    Could that be Pete Clark next to Mays?

    What an awesome Xmas card that would make. Can anyone colorize this photo?

    Actually, appears to be a very well thought out cobble. Filled out past the shallows, enough hull to carry the weight, keels aligned with the current, ramp angles matching the tether arc, nor to dismiss the appearance that it's been there a while. Rube Goldberg, yes, but functional.

    Likely built & run by rodders. :D

    One of my high school buddies had a friend that had a DKW. Strange little car. Sounded like it going way faster then it was. He took it to the drag races and took off the air cleaner and it sounded like it had open exhaust. He lost to a 36 hp VW. This guy was into foreign cars big time. He traded the DKW off on a 50 Mercedes sedan, the slowest vehicle I have ever ridden in. Had a rear window shade you operated with a cord that ran up along side the driver. Car gave me the creeps. :)

    And, whilst looking at some favourite songs I came across this:
    Not really a vintage shot, but maybe a vintage album cover;
    And a tribute to a great artist.

    Here' one for Steffen,
    They called it the miracle of Avus.
    That's Richard von Frankenberg hanging out of the 1500RS special (short wheelbase, narrow track); they didn't make any more, probably made sense.

  28. Plus the off set ramps on the other side of the river to account for the current flow. And the other loading ramp far side to left is probably setup the same for the return trip. 'least that's the way it looks to me.
