What kind of lift did you buy? I have a American twin post lift rated at 5000 lbs. there built in Ft. Worth,TX. Thanks Frank

  3. In the 22 years that I've been in the collision business ( my day job) I've never had a lift, so this is something I've always wanted.
Frank the lift is a Direct Lift. I got it from a local lift company here in town. I know of a few people that have the same one and they are very happy with them. It's a 8000# came with a wheel caster kit so you can move the lift around and came with four drip trays and a movable jack crossmember.

I'm not normally a fan of chopped shoe boxes, but that is a seriously nice chop. The lines are spot on

  7. That is looking seriously ruined, great lines on the chop. Man, I've got shop envy, lift or no lift that looks like a great place to play.

Hey man you are doing a really great job on this chop. The layout is pretty much exactly how I did mine. IMG_0727.JPG

Making GOOD progress keep up the good work.
I have a Bend Pack sissor lift that I use when I do body work on the sides of a car, so I can sit on a stool. My knees are shot from doing body work for 60+ years. Frank

Very nice fab work but more importantly you nailed the slope of the roof...so many times I see chopped shoeboxes with the rear window laid too flat and the top too low. Nice job!

This level of skill is amazing. I can learn a few things just looking at the photos. I'll get around to chopping my '51 Merc one of these days, and I hope I can get it to look as good as your metal fabrication.

Great execution and vision with the chop. Alot of times I don't care for slanted B post.

  17. That looks great! I noticed you have the Lincoln door buttons on your car. How hard is it to open the door with those? I really like the way they look but I was worried it would be a pain in the ass to open the doors.

It's a bit of a pain but if you hide a door popper in the a post say where the dome light switch is it's alot easier that is what I did

  19. Do the door poppers make the doors any harder to close? I hate when you have to slam the doors for them to shut.

  21. I finished up the last panel and got it all tacked together last night. I put the skirts on it and set the back glass in just to see how it looks. Now I have lots of tig welding to do, there's just under 26' of butt joints to weld around the window.

Nice chop on the shoebox. What model lift did you get? My car so low I have to have a drive on lift.
