Mine is a plastic resin ball from a 60's centerpiece. A bunch of these balls along with some plastic ivy leaves stapled to a hunk of driftwood.

Shift wizard, your t-handle looks like it belongs on a Jules Verne time machine. Neat stuff.

I want one of these for my '65 Falcon. They were like hens teeth for a long time, but apparently there are re-pops available now.:)

These were so common in Boss Mustangs and 429CJ Torinos and Cyclones in the seventies, there was actually a big debate on the ford resto sites as to whether they were factory or some of the dealers were installing them. Looks like they weren't from Ford, theres no Ford part number for them, but I still flash right back to early seventies Ford factory muscle when I see one.

IMG_2342.PNG Commerative to my pops, part of, "the greatest generation", who was a bombardier during WWII on a B17 stationed out of Italy with the 15th Air Force, 2nd Bomb Group. The motto translates to "Defenders of Liberty".

I never liked them when they were new because they just looked so......new.
Would be cool if you could buy them with that yellowed look like the round white shift knobs get from sitting in the sun.
Talking about Hurst T-handles made me think of the first time the T-10 in my 57 jumped out of second gear and seeing that big aluminum T-handle flying forward on its own accompanied by that unforgettable "windup" sound.
    Oh to be 16 again!

When they first started putting T-handles in the Boss cars, guys were stealing the knobs out of the cars on the dealers lots. One story is that some of the dealers were replacing the aluminum t-handles with the white plastic ones. IIRC, the Boss 351 SS/DI road-tested had a white plastic t-handle in it.

  18. If I have the right shifter I run this knob which I have owned for almost 60 years.

it was given to me by this guy when I was really little.

But on my quarter stick I just run the white hurts knob it came with. :)

    Cripes, George, the memories.
I worked at Damerow Ford in the early 70's, the owner had a Boss 351 car, except IIRC, it had a 2x4 427 in it, and his kid had a white Boss 429. It's hard to believe I didn't turn into a "blue oval" guy considering all the guys I knew back then with Fords.

Well you had that Maverick too right? I remember seeing one in a Grabber Blue '69 Boss 429 with a white interior when the car was about a year old. I know a guy that had a '70 Boss 302 with one in it too, but that was mid seventies, so who knows when it went in there, coulda been at the dealer, or later.

This one might ruffle feathers. Saw it on E-bay I'm guessing it's pre-war

Around December of 1958, I was tooling around the San Jose drag in my channeled '30 'A' Coupe one evening, dropped by Normandin's Chrysler showroom...Norm Grabowski was in there, wiping off his 'Kookie Kar', (he and the T were on a promotional to selected Chrysler dealerships, staying for a number of days at each one) Zowie! There was a very light crowd...

Norm was really cool, let me crawl under for a looksee at the short torque tube and wishbones...
I asked about the sad looking woman's head on the shift stick. Norm asked, "Don't you watch Rocky & Bullwinkle???"
I said, "Sure..." It was a wood carving of Natasha Badenoff. I was embarrassed...How could I not know that???

For years after that, I apologized to him every time we'd cross paths...he'd just make those crazy whistles and go off on some goofy Norm tangent...
Norm's gone now, so I guess I'll have to whittle one of those Natashas myself. Truly the 'ginchiest' knob ever.
But you have to have a T. My tub will do.
