So the PO did his best to protect rust spots on my 53 but in the process he chose not to tape off and trim and got a little carried away with the paint bomb. The stainless is in good shape and I don't want to create more work for myself. What works best for you? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
*MEK not legal for industry but you can still buy it at any home improvement store. * methyl ethyl ketone
I was going to try paint remover because I had some but was afraid it might react with the stainless. Good to know. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

On the car or is it off? On the car I'd go after it with triple 0 steel wool, stripper or ever lacquer thinner could get on the paint you want to keep. If the trim is off then stripper, not many chemicals will effect stainless.
You can tape off the paint next to the trim to protect what paint is there and use quad #0000 steel wool to remove and shine your trim back to life.
I've used gel stripper on stainless many times and never had an issue. I assume you're doing this off of the car anyway, although lacquer thinner might work and be easier if it's just cheapie spray paint.
Easy Off oven cleaner. Spray it on, give it a chance to work (several hours) spray it with water then scrub with fine steel wool or an SOS pad.
All the chemicals as suggested , just be careful and wear PPE , many are really bad , and enter through the sink . I tell everyone , gooogles are a must , eyes are a hard item to buy , "NOS " .
0000 steel wool works the best, if you don't want to hurt the paint, run a tape line down both sides. A good metal polish after that and they will look really good. Dennis
