hey guys, can anyone recommend a small home/garage lift? looking at Harbor Freight scissor lift,BendPak,EZ Car Automotive etc. would appreciate any insight on these. thanks. Eddie-Brooklyn NY.
I have not, but the guy in the cubical next to was showing me this video the other day. he sent me this link https://www.cjautos.eu/NEW_3_IN_1_TILTING_CAR_LIFT_p/cl01.htm
GregSmithequiptment.com......Really happy with the one [4 post] I got..Several different heights, widths and lengths to choose from..Good adjust ability in cables and hanging lock rails to adjust for level..
I have the quick jack setup. Works great. Lifts the car about 2 feet off the ground. Plenty of height for rotating tires, brake jobs or oil changes. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm not getting under anything supported by a harbor freight lift. Not a chance! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have a Snap-on (bought it used) its made by Wheeltronic works great and perfect for body work also makes a nice weld/jig stand
^^Looks like the lift that Harbor Freight copied. Nice that it needs no structure work and is portable but doesn't have room to work on anything underneath (probably a good thing). Also 7" minimum clearance. HF reviews are overwhelmingly positive, opposite of what I would suspect.
I have a "Direct Lift " 4 post with a sliding jack. It has wheel attachments so that you can move it around if you need to .
^^ I see he made some nice blocks to get around the minimum clearance issue. A major attraction to these scissor lifts is portability. I plan to move as soon as my 90 yo MIL moves on (although she'll probably outlive me, hope she can use a lift). But for me the main reason for a lift is drivetrain work, wheels and suspension I can handle with jack stands. I also wouldn't feel comfortable underneath, even if there was room to work.
I don’t see he point of that, unless you have a bad back and need to change brakes or clean the whitewalls
Me and you both brother. Quality control is something that is sorely lacking when it comes to harbor freight. At least this HF piece didn't fall on me but lasted about a hour, took long than that to build the stand. HRP
One good thing about a Harbor Freight lift is, if it fails, and kills you, they will give your widow a new lift.
for the price of one of those, you could buy 12 jack stands, a good jack, a Da, a good impact gun, some fender covers, a drop light, a creeper and still have money left over. or save up for a real lift.
