    I like the red rubber ball FOD covers for the velocity stacks, very cool!

  2. Work still in progress. Rebuild of a build decades old.
    New cage, new paint. Something to scratch the itch of wanting to build.....

  3. This is the second AMT Meyers Manx kit I've built. The first one was more off-road oriented, and while I was building that one, I decided I wanted to do a street version. The theme at our club's contest this year is "Surf, Sand, & Sun", so I decided to build this one as if it was geared up for a day at the beach. It's the recent reissue AMT Meyers Manx, done box stock with the exception of:
    Goodyear Rally GT tires from an old AMT kit;
    Scratchbuilt distributor and plug wires;
    Fuel lines from fuel pump to carbs;
    Surfboard from Revell 37 Ford pickup and sewing thread "rope";
    Resin copies of a parts box toolbox, blanket/sleeping bag, and cooler, with a wire handle added to the cooler.
    The paint is Testor's Boyd Orange Pearl enamel airbrushed and cleared with rattle can Rustoleum clear. Wheels are brush painted Tamiya gloss white. I used the Molotow chrome pens on the rollbar, steering wheel center, rear license plate mount/light, front and rear bumpers, and to touch up the chrome around the headlights, parking brake, and gear shift. I also used it on the seatbelt hardware, hood emblem, and for license plate bolt heads after the plates were glued on. The rollbar shows some wear and tear from handling during mockup, and there are some brush strokes on the rear skid pan, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with the pens.

    These kits are fun. I have a TeeVee buggy in the works, and another TeeVee buggy in the stash that I will probably do as the "dune buggy" version (no body).

  5. If you can excuse the poor photography and the years (& years) of dust engrained in the paint.. I did these as the new annuals came out and fancied myself a skilled (!?) and creative race car namer and letterer - hmm.

    S.M.P. was/is a local Chev dealer and I wanted the Tornado to carry the Smothers Brothers livery..

    No Grumpy decals available at the time, so another attempt at hand lettering.. The two in the window and the "crager" on the quarter panel are the only decals.

  7. Box stock from ..has it been 45 years???

    This "faux" metal flake was done by "spitting" blue from a distance over a silver base and then spraying candy blue over the resulting splatter.! (I think I read about the technique in Car Model[?] back in the day).

    I used Paktra's Lemon-Lime metalflake on half the models I did back then..

  8. A little more recently (15 years ago!) I began to try and replicate some of my 1 to 1 cars starting with my '51 Chevy coupe. I swiped the roof from a '49 Ford kit and modified it to resemble the Chev..
    ChevCoupe.jpg

    Left over Chev. hardtop roof and Ford body combined to make a decent Vicky..

    Anyone for a fantasy drag race? Consider Davey Allison versus Darrel Waltrip. These are 1/32 scale.
    Revell, I think.

    Just got the body mounted today cab mounts next then more bits to finish the cab on my 1/16 scale race car hauler, my OFFY sprinter makes it look pretty good now like a hauler should look

    The truck has bolt on mag type wheels that will be gold like on the car to help give the truck a custom look along with being slammed etc DND DSCN0950_456.JPG DSCN0951_457.JPG

  23. It's my old man's favorite movie. he has almost every poster but mom will only let him hang them in his bathroom. The kit is a resin and I had to pay $100 for that ugly booger.
