one of my favorite artists. I put a lot of his music on my phone recently and have been going through it, some just amazing stuff there. What a time, what an influence. I saw him play live in Melbourne in the 80's I was a teenager then but man it was great to see.

A life well lived, and influence that will never be forgotten.

I´ve had the pleasure to see him on stage twice, ´06 and ´10. He still had a ton of fun on stage. Ring them the bells up there, Chuck!

Way back when we played that opening rift to Johnny B Goode at parties or dances it was like a call to "let's get this party started". RIP Chuck

Maybe I'm old but todays Rock and Roll if you can call it that, doesn't hold a candle to Chuck Berry's Rock and Roll and any of the musicians who were influenced by him. R.I.P.

the brown-eyed, handsome man. architect & poet of rock & roll. a st. louis institution, until about 2 years ago he played weekly gigs at "blueberry hill," a local bar. its concert venue was a basement hall--the "duck room"--named for the"duck walk," a berry signature move. hail, hail--we're all chuck's children! Is it just me or does anyone else mash the accelerator pedal to the floor when a Chuck Berry tune comes on the radio?

I remember a story about Jerry Lee Lewis talking to his Mom once, he was agitated about how popular Elvis was. He wanted her assurance that he was at the top, she calmly told him, "Now Jerry, You Know Chuck Berry Is the King Of Rock and Roll " !

  24. I used to see Chuck around St Charles, back when I was a kid. Not performing, but cruising around in his Cadillac. "No Particular Place to Go" has gotta be one of my all time favorites of his song catalog.

I don't think you are the only one that does this. I had a cassette player in my 50 Ford so I would record a song over and over on each side of the cassette. So if I wanted to listen to a certain song, I could put that cassette in and the song would be there. I think I did about 6 songs this way. "Johnny be Good" was one of them. Certain sections of road were better driven when listening to Chuck Berry. Another of the songs was "Thunder Road".

RIP Chuck. Best believe I'll be listening to your songs this week, even if I'm driving my OT truck, so much easier to find the songs with DVDs and todays technology.

    My all time favorite guitarist/singer/songwriter/performer.
As Roy Orbison once said - the first example of doing it all and made it look so easy.

His lyrics crack me up everytime I hear his songs.
Like this one yesterday morning before I heard the sad news...

Duckwalking on his knees, pecking like a hen
Looking like a locomotive, here he comes again
Meow said the kitty, puppy bow, wow, wow
Go and pick your guitar, Johnny don't stop now, oh baby

    - from the song Go,Go,Go

  27. Hope you almost get your Caddy up there. No money down, ya know.

    farewell, Chuck

I got the honor of meeting him about a year ago. He's always been one of my favorite artists. So many great hits that are in my opinion very hamb friendly. [IMG]
