sorry for the mis-understanding, I just re-posted the story here, it wasn't actually me it happened to.

Here is a link to a story for a little inspiration, it will make the job ahead of you seem like a cakewalk. The story of how one dedicated man and some helpers resurrected a steam shovel that is now one of only about a half dozen or so worldwide that are operational. It was half buried in blue clay after failing to survive a river crossing 50 years prior.

1940 Ford Coupes are the car that pulled me out of my obsession with Mopar muscle cars when I was about 17...

Weather permitting, Now might be a good time to get it while it isnt overgrown in there and not having to deal with snakes, mosquitos, spiders etc. as much would also be a huge plus.

There's a few small trees in the way, little more than saplings. Think of a skateboard ramp, with its almost vertical lip at the top. That's what it has to go up.

It's about 15 minutes south of Rutland VT. That's about all I can say for now. But I was told about the car by another hot rodder who asked, and was given the car, but he never pulled it out of there.

I thought for sure I was on a goose chase but I walked around where I was told, and there it was.

Would hate to cut it even tho its rough but it might make it more manageable to cut it at the windshield post and "across the floor" (if necessary:D) to make the pieces that cant be unbolted more manageable to get out, If you think it cant be winched out up that incline as a whole???

I'll brace it up, I dont care if I drill holes in it, it'll come out in one piece. If there's no sills in it at all, I may consider cutting it since it's just the windshield posts at that point.

  23. If it is too far gone for a street car build it like this, but I would build it like that anyway!

Get permission to retrieve it and pull it out carefully. That body looks really good.
Finding a take out rolling 40 chassis is easy. I bought one this year on eBay this year for $1500.
    I just finished restoring it.

Rats, read this whole thread expecting a really cool story about saving the '40, and ended up with a cliff hanger.

Maybe if we post his user name @VTjunk , he'll see the bright red "alert" and come back with some kind of update. He was still active a couple months ago
