Can someone with a 32 ford coupe help me with the proper hardware. I would like to find out what hardware is needed to mount the 32 grill shell onto my radiator. Not the screws on top but the four screws on both sides. A picture would help too. Thanks in advance.
For concours restoration, I don't know. I have always used 10-24 button head stainless and stainless nuts. There easy to get at Home Depot etc. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Well, I temporarily have a 1/4 inch countersunk screw in there but I don't think that is correct. Not concours restoration.
I can't tell you what stock uses, but on my mouldy old channel job ; I'm using four 7/16" x 1/2" long bolts .
If you are looking for factory type then you need 12-24 pan head screws, 9/16 long and black oxided. The nuts were 7/16 square, 5/32 thick and plain steel. Like others have posted I use stainless button heads.
If you are looking for exact restoration quality, Roy Nacewicz, www.fordbolts.com, has the proper screws. Part no. D-540, 12-24 binding head, in S-2 Ford finish.
Hell bowie the holes in your shell must be flogged out if you can fit 7/16" dia bolts in there or are the nuts 7/16" AF?
Not flat head AKA counter sunk, pan head or button head. pan heads tend to be not as tall as button heads. If 10-24 is the correct size, the #10 will be shorter than the 1/4" hole you're filling now.
Thanks Ron, you are one hell of a nice guy. That means a lot to me. Should be ready for Deuce Day 2018!
