I just got these, thought id share. May need some repair. I may try to recast the knobs. Anyone know any history of this company? marked "super manufacturing co Hollywood California"
There is some one recasting and selling these here on the H.A.M.B. There was a thread about them about 3 weeks ago under the term "orchard posts".
John Lee Williamson is the one that is recasting these. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=614410&highlight=folding
It will be interesting to see if anyone knows the history of those particular posts. As for repops, Williamson's are nice looking units, they are aluminum though, not bronze or brass. Bert's Model A Parts in Denver sells some cast brass ones from time to time as a production run is made. I've got a set of those, pretty nice pieces, though not as nice looking, or plating ready, as the bronze ones at the start of this thread.
The 28-29 folding posts were a hot accessory. Reproductions of the original era posts and stanchions with original styled knurled edge knobs were made by Specialized Auto Parts and hundreds and hundreds of sets were sold during the 70s-80s-90s. Many aftermarket companies made these as well during the 30s-40s.
Yes, John Lee Williamson as mentioned earlier in this thread. Find them in the classifieds here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/28-29-ford-chopped-folding-windshield-posts.923370/
haha I get what you're saying, but I don't think he's claiming he does though. That picture has the tag "Posts on a car" not 'posts on my car'. I think he's just trying to illustrate his product.
.....................Actually, I think he had the car for sale in the HAMB classifieds a while back. Don't know if it ever sold or not though. I kept going back and looking at it but it was out of my meager price range.
Has anyone here actually used the post that John Lee Williams sells. If so how good are they and are you happy with them? Gregg
