Not to sound like a total idiot, but. Is the white item the gas tank? It doesn't look like there is much clearance between the tank and the pipes - might be camera angle. I worked in OE fuel systems and seeing exhaust pipes in such close proximity to fuel handling components makes me a little nervous.

    Nice build, by the way.

Yes, it is the fuel tank. They hang down probably 3" or so. I have had several pickup done this way and haven't had any problems. Hopefully, that will remain the case. I understand your concern. Unfortunately, there just isn't a lot of room for other options.

Pulled it out the other day to move some cars around. Getting ready to have my lettering guy get started. I'll post more pics as it progresses.[IMG]

The camera angle made it look like there was less clearance. You should be fine for your usage.

Along with concerns in crash, if this was a design suggested at an OE there would be a lot of head scratching about thermal input to the tank but in this case it probably won't be a problem.

As an aside, the reason so many OT trucks and Suv's come from the factory with a receiver hitch is because it serves to act as added protection in crash not because they wanted so save the customer the bother of having to go out and buy one.

I also understand the packaging concerns. Where to put things is always a pain in the butt.

If you scroll back a LONG way to where I built the rear Xmember/hitch, I purposely built mine out of thick walled tubing to add protection for that very reason. I am still thinking of adding some sort of bumper. I just want something to keep the soccer moms out of my cab.

Not yet. I am going back over the truck from front to back. I still have to adjust the TV cable. Hoping to do all that on the weekend.

Everyone has a go to combination. This one is mine. 40 caps and ribbed rings. It works and it takes the guess work out of it.

The interior looks fantastic! The engine came out nice too, I dig the color combo. Any future plans to adapt earlier looking valve covers on?

I doubt it. It gonna be a driver and I probably wont open the hood except to check the oil.

I adjusted the TV cable and drove it about 10 miles. The dreaded death wobble is an issue. I'll have to start looking at everything to see what I can do to make that go away. It has a few weird sounds I need to attend to, but overall it was a success.

The goal is to get to the Springfield HRH on Easter Weekend. It's definitely coming to the WI HRH, just working out the bugs....

Very cool! Did you work out the death wobble issue? I don't understand you having that problem with radials....or are those bias ply?

No, they are radials. I took some slack out of the steering box, tightened everything up again and added a stabilizer shock. Good to go.

Can't wait to see the truck complete. My sign painter/striper has free run on it. I just walked away and left him unsupervised!
