This weekend the 1960 Edsel Custom "The Silver Cloud" resurfaces on the show circuit after decades of hibernation. The custom, built by Doug Mattix of Texas, featuring a chromed tri power 1954 Hemi, chrome suspension, rear and trans, custom button tufted interior and gallons of silver metal flake paint drove into Autorama Extreme yesterday in Downtown Detroit COBO Hall. Come by and check out this vintage piece of hot rod/custom car history. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks, sorry I misspelled it. Do you have any info on the vehicle or where I might find some? I would love to see pictures from its heyday. I have a few show posters and a magazine that featured the interior, but not much else. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Very interesting car. Looks like it landed in the hands of someone who really does care for it, which is great news.
Too bad it has typical old time lacquer paint crazing and cracking. Must have looked good in it's day.
Saw it a while ago. Didn't know it was still up. It's the same car. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I know it's the same car. You were looking for info and I didn't know if you had seen that thread, just trying to help.
Thanks. Drove the Silver Cloud Edsel out of Autorama Extreme in Detroit tonight. I wonder when it was last in a show? Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
philo426... The '60 Edsel body on this 2dr. was based on the '60 Ford 2dr. The cowl & green house were Ford, the front clips, grilles & rear quarters & tailllights were Edsel. They had to economize. And, Robert McNamara, as he did with the Lincoln Continental Mark II, axed the Edsel by the end of '59. Sad though...they could have been really cool in the following year's with some support & restyling. Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net

Is there any chance you could take a pic of the data plate (by the driver's door hinges) of both cars? There's a guy who maintains an Edsel registry who would like to have them, especially of the '60 because only 2,846 of them were built. Thanks....
I'm about 4 hours away but I'll give Mickey (the owner) a call and see if he will send me a few pictures. Sent from my SM-G930T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Here is a data plate from one I bought parts off of. I sent it to him a couple years ago but it never showed up on the registry: and enhanced: if you down load and enlarge you can make it out
I've always wanted a '60 Edsel 2 door sedan or wagon w/hi-po 352, 3 speed. But, they didn't make many '60 Edsels of any style.
