  6. Stogy, those pictures look like model cars. I had to study the yellow 32 sedan for a minute to make sure it was real. What are you doing to the pictures to get that effect. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Anderegg its a collaborative effort. Just another thread showcasing a popular mod and standard feature on so many vehicles we hold dear to our hearts.

Please feel free to contribute...its totally open to all.

Of course Hamb friendly is the only guideline and that gives us a heck of alot of options.

Yup, two punches and some very careful measurement! I did similar for a windage tray for the Blake family Bonneville Buick a couple of years ago. I didn't snap any picts though....

  21. Not to hi jack this thread, but I knew that was Manuel because a few years before I met him at my first car show with the old RPU. He was just a teenager looking to make some cash by painting show signs. He painted this sign for me in 1961. Yes, he spelled Halibrand wrong, but I still have the sign and prize it in my collection.

Chip, 33 is asking is it two separate sets of male and female dies (one for each side) or is it one single set of dies with a 2nd run using same single set of dies with part flipped over?

Kinda tricky wording that question

Dean that just makes posting that pic here even more special...thank you for the info and connections.

I am going to admit  I actually thought it was Pete doing that work. Regardless There is no mistake of whose car that is...and again glad you cleared it up for us.

Got it! My answer was way over simplified, but remains the same. I literally laid the pattern out on both the top side and bottom side, in mirror image. The important part is that the center lines on each side absolutely match. Punch one side, flip the panel, reverse it, and run the second side. The difference is I had to drop my male (top) die down a bit to "miss" the already punched louver as it formed the second one.

I'll admit, the finished product wasn't spectacular looking, as for an internal engine part, it just had to be effective. But, with some polishing of the technique, a could see how a quality double punch like that could be done.
