Finally found a windshield for my 29' roadster. It's only been 8 years searching... My daughter was 5 in this picture. She's now 13!!! I sold off my 29' coupe body and will finally be digging into this soon. I'll be building new door skins once my Hoosier Profile dies come in and also modifying the extra coupe quarter panels I have into correct roadster quarters. I'll be staying full fendered and keeping the parallel leaf front end. Shooting for a 63-5 era build. Progress is going to be slow but I'm determined, haha!

Got a 34 Standard 3 window coupe over 30 years ago and it indeed is really a metal skin over a wooden structure. Most of the wood is original except for the main sills and some of the A pillar (door post). Currently working on its third redo as it has gotten a 3 inch cut on the top, 6 inch dropped front axel, and a vette rear on this go around. Waiting now on a set of jaysters so I can put the final touches on the motor and xmiss mounts as I changed the frame when the fenders were removed (staying off) as I wanted a hi-boy look. At nearly 70 years old I still enjoy working on my Coupe. A cabinet maker is a Chevy mans best friend.

Good on both of you! Keep going maybe you'll drag me along with you. Great windshield find! My '26 Chevy roadster build has been stalled for years, many years.

Took my '28 for a flat out run using an iphone speedo app which surprised me by recording 62 mph down hill!
To eliminate error I went out again using my TomTom sat-nav, and managed to hold an indicated 58mph on a fairly level stretch of road.
The engine is a bit tired, there is audible piston slap ( the Chevy repair manual actually says to ignore piston slap until it's really bad! ) I re-ground the valves but the only mod is fitting a Zenith universal tractor carb, so reaching that speed amazed me somewhat.
Is anyone here running a stock '28 four banger?
I would really like to know if 60 mph is normally achievable.

  9. I have seen the red phaeon in Action Rod or Street Rodder sometime in 1980-1990 but I can not find the issue.
Here are some pictures of my 1935 standard. (The front tires are too big and will be replaced) Bild 2015-12-19 Chevy 010.JPG

Making some progress on the 29/30 . It's on the front wheels. Another weekend should be on the back and she's a roller! Also having fun with exhaust mock up . Loving all the mid 30's Chevys popping up on this thread too really starting to like 'em! And to the guys apologizing for all the wood left in their cars:don't ! I wish my body had some wood left in it but it was all gone when I found it. Wood is good.

My 1926 Touring, my father moved from Iowa to southern Indiana in one of these. He found this one in 1996 in a storage unit in Columbus, Oh. It has set there since 1948 after it was involved in a fender bender. He, along with me and my brother rescued it, and hopped it up using a 28 engine. His older brother insisted it could be driven crusing at 45.... unfortunately he was wrong. Before my father passed away in Sept of 2015, he wanted me to just put a small block in it.... he always was a hot rodder. I have located a 151 from a 1978 Monza with the small block bell housing, and I intend to swap that in this winter. I live close to Moser Enterprises, and they have built me a rear end that will accept the wooden spoke wheels. True to this thread, the wood was indeed in bad shape. I love driving this old Bowtie!!

I like e'm all ......mine has all the wood because i didn't know any better......kinda agree with "Stray Bomb too" that the wood makes e'm unique (although the body squeaks and rattles until it gets a good washing and the wood swells to tighten it up) Here's a before (circa 1972) and after (circa 19??) I put a 32 Grille on mine.......kind of like the Ford boys do..

Fern 54 how much did you take out of your top? Did you have to stretch the roof or did it pretty much fall in place? I'm going to cut mine 2-3", but have put saw to metal yet. Did a 37 Chevy sedan several years ago with my dad and was surprised how much we had to separate the top to get the A pillars to line up.

Gasser57! The truck was chopped 4 1/2 inches. The top section of the roof was left as is, but the A pillar had to be laid back just a bit. In the first pic you can see how the top of the door was chopped and laid back slightly.
