Pretty good shooting if he took it with that M-1 carbine. But he looks like a Veteran anyway.

I shopped at the Hillsboro store. That logo by today's standards is so wrong!

    Hello,
This truck is too nice to be flipped the wrong way.

Bob Carey Memorial Marker in Anderson Indiana 2016.jpg
Good guess, it is, Legion Ascot 1933. Here's a shot prior:
    View attachment 3466390 [/QUOTE]

Rootie, a memorial maker to Bob Carey was put in place last year in his hometown of Anderson, Indiana. It was part of a privately funded effort to remember Hoosier racers done in conjunction with the celebration of 200 years of Indiana statehood. In addition to the one for Carey markers were also installed for drivers Pat O'Connor, Wilbur Shaw, Jimmy Daywalt, Howdy Wilcox, Gene Hartley, and others.

Carey had a successful but pretty brief career; at least on the national level. It's nice that he has been remembered all of these years after his death.

A Lohner-Porsche "Hybrid" has a petrol engine driving a dynamo and electric motors in the front-wheel drive hubs, winning the 1902 Exelberg hill-climb.

That's what I also thought first, but I checked and found out that in the XK series only the XK150 had disc brakes. The Jag in the picture is either XK120 or XK140, and both had drum brakes front and rear.

Don't know if the bag made the water taste bad or the water in the bag tasted bad, but when you are thirsty you just held your nose and drank...LOL

I'm assuming those are ''wooden'' wheels on this car....it's hard to imagine taking these corners like this without losing the spokes in the process! What a thrill that must have been for spectator and car alike...thanks for sharing!;)

An interesting photo that I believe was taken at the old 16th Street Speedway which was across the street from Turn Two at IMS. Foxworthy was a local Ford dealer in Indianapolis. The MARC logo on the car's door was for the "Midwest Association for Race Cars" which was started by John Marcum. The letters "M-A-R-C" also happened to be the first four letters of his name. Marcum raced himself and early on worked for Bill France before striking out on his own. Years later MARC became the ARCA club that still races today. MARC ran both regular stock cars and convertibles in their early races.

When stock cars were STOCK cars. Looks like they drove it off the showroom floor and only stopped at the sign painters on the way to the track. Still has the wipers, sun visors, continental kit and probably the factory installed tires too.

Any idea who this is? The driver's face looks like Foyt but I don't remember ever seeing him in a car the looked like this one.

Hey Rootie, do you have any more info on this car? You posted another picture of it with a checkerboard paintjob back on page 3187 that I've had hanging on my bulletin board ever since as an inspiration for an upcoming project. I'm glad I know what the other side looks like now! 12-9-b.JPG

No idea who it is but it appears to be a SCCA formula B car, so I'm sure it's not Foyt.
