  5. You know any history about the car? Reminds me a lot of this one that Dad took a shot of in Peoria, 1970

Sorry guys, and not to hijack Rusty's thread but that maroon with black fendered car above was built in Minnesota in 1970 by a NSRA safety rep named Don L. He bought a new over the counter LS6 and TH400 and put in it. A friend of mine in Chicago knew of an Anglia for sale in a garage there with a 454 chopped top and so forth. Looking at several things compared the the articles I saw on the maroon car in R&C 1970 and Hot Rod Pictorial I realized it was the same car. Same firewall, same motorcycle taillights, vents always open because the handle hit the firewall inside, 57 Pontiac/Olds rear and rolled and pleated interior with unmistakably same seats. I went and bought the car in 2000 and later found the car had a makeover possible around 1978 getting the changes you see here, chop, paint, small headlights and the burgundy interior dyed black. I drove it joyfully for 5 years had many safety issues caused by the big motor and several big feet on the gas pedal. A few days after 8 hour trip back from Indy I pulled the motor/trans and was pushing the car to the other side of the driveway and the steering box fell off in the driveway. The mounts had broke loose. $h!t were me and my buddy lucky we didn't get killed coming home. I put a small block in it, repaired a few problems and sold it since I had another chopped Anglia project with a nice chassis in the corner I wanted to finish. Unfortunately, it is still sitting just in a different spot in my garage.

Sorry for this long posting but I thought you guys may like to know the story on the burgundy car in Peoria picture. Here are a couple more pictures of the car after I got it home, raised the front end and so forth.
