What Tim said, my only one!

 

First, last and only, still not finished since buying it in 1974. I call it "Deferred Gratification," since it is always secondary to all my priorities such as remodeling a house, building a house, raising a child, sending him through college and finally, paying debts to ensure a trouble-free retirement.

 

The white 55 Chevy Truck was my first old truck. Photo was taken in the mid 90's at the Make A Wish Car Show in Rubidoux, Ca

 

Here is mine that I got when I was 16 and had been passed down in the family,if I can ever figure out how to use my scanner I can post the before pics.

 

I've had success with taking pics of photos with my phone! Might want to give it a try...

Bought my 1953 Dodge in 1975 for $100 - I am the second owner. Finished a rebuild last year.

 

Found it in local paper in our small town in 2000. Bought it and drove it regularly until sale in 2005 after I had built my first 40 pickup at end of 2002.

 

My 1st LEGITIMATE drive to school TRUCK, bought the car for the grill and found out they weren't the same. Truck cost me 20bucks car was a bit more (drove it home)50bucks.

 

Here's the 40 that followed the 54. 53 Ford truck engine w/stock trans and rearend.
Built from parts of 12 cars and 14 trucks.
This car provided the chassis.

Finished truck used the same vin number as the 4 dr sedan but was "reconstructed."

My bro and I with my '49 (a long time ago) paid $25 for it. Drove it a year and found a '64 Wildcat with body damage bought it for $25. It was winter so we slid the 401 into my parents basement on a piece of plywood. Rebuilt it on the floor and humped it up out of there. Narrowed and shortened the frame and plopped the p/u on it. Presto! Instant hot rod! Hauled ass big time in it for another year and sold it when I went in the Army. It got totalled about 3 months after.

Always loved 37 Chevy cars and trucks. In the 80's I had an idea for something different in a Pickup Truck and ended up with a few 37/38 Chevy trucks for my project. The end result was a Kingcab style pickup that I designed and built. I drove it for several years and then sold it. A couple years ago my Son was able to make a deal with the owner and the truck is now his.

In 1962, after riding around in my 40 Ford Sedan Delivery and 58 Impala, I started riding my new/old Greeves Scrambler motorcycle on a dirt lot in a Wilmington oil refinery near our house. I had to push the Greeves over to the lot, but when I got close enough, I rode the dirt bike over 101 Hiway to the exit and the huge dirt field. I did this for 2 years to learn all about handling a Greeves in the rough terrain. We went riding in the desert, but had to buckle up a rental trailer to the tow hitch on the 58 Impala. A black 58 Impala towing a low slung rental trailer with 2 Greeves Motorcycles was a sight to see.

But, it beat the crap out of the Impala going over dirt roads to get to where we were going to race. At first, it was driving out to the Lake Elsinore European Scrambles course and then the 4+ hour trip to the Mojave Desert. That got old fast. The next choice was a closed cab Model A pickup, but one bike might fit tightly, but there was no way to put in two bikes without dropping the tailgate and securing the bikes with a million nylon tie downs.

So, we sold the 40 Sedan Delivery and the Impala to buy a new 65 El Camino. That was my first truck.

Later on between this 65 El Camino, getting married, and taking photographs, we started looking for another Model A closed cab pickup truck. (I must have kept that first Model A we bought in 1957 in my mind all of these years) We almost bought a black one with all of the goodies, again, but settled on another cool orange 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. I guess those 60’s memories are stronger…our second 40 sedan delivery worked out well for us.

Then, our stable included a custom, Harley Sportster, 65 El Camino, and our 40 sedan delivery.
(within a year, my wife wanted a car with A/C, so, gone was the 65 El Camino and a new blue El Camino model showed up on our front door.)

Both El Caminos did double duty when our Harley did not want to start, so a 20 mile ride to pick up the sidelined bike was in order. The bed of both vehicles held the bike tightly, but it was within legal limits. Could the Harley fit in the Model A pickup? It would have fit but at an angle and the tailgate dropped down. That would have looked rather cool going down the street…a Model A Pickup with Moon Discs and a Harley in the back bed.

Sold the 1965 with 125k miles on it. It should still be running around So Cal somewhere.

Here's my first truck (vehicle) I ever owned. 1965 Chevy C10, all original (1 repaint) and purchased it from the original owner.

38 ford cab on a 65 ford chassis shortened 13 inches 50 chev bed
289 c-4 got 22 mpg with a 48 gallon tank in the bed. Made several 2000+ mile trips in that old ugly

Here's my first of many and the only HAMB friendly one:

Sorry for the poor quality! Still trying to master the art of taking pictures of pictures! '47 Merc bought for 75.00 in 1967. Pulled into a local auto wreckers with a failed front u-joint. Was a wood hauler, hence the ratty flatdeck! Stock C59A with a three speed which was my first trans rebuild. Later pulled the engine and trans and put in a 292 Y block with a C-2. Tossed the flatdeck and replaced it with a box from a nice '53 which had met it's end in a highway collision with a motorcycle. Went off travelling the South Pacific with a buddy and when I returned, found my Dad and sister had done the bodywork and paint and replaced the running boards with stained hardwood ones!

My first vehicle. Bought it at 12 years old for $200 that my grandpa loaned me and I later "worked off". 300 6 with a 4 on the floor. Can't tell how many miles where put on cruising the 80 acres.

Like pick-ups,but never got one,ummmm. Best like is El Camino n Ranchiro's { earlyer the better} I did had some toys that I thought were cool.

Cool looking truck. It is too bad about your stash of lost photos. Once was enough for us, also. So, here is my solution, two small external 3tb hard drives, after all stuff is transferred, disconnect each until you are ready to add more stuff. Then USB disconnect again. Put them in a basket somewhere safe until ready to use. In an emergency, just grab the two hard drives and you have all of your stuff backed up.

My son uses a cloud service, but we do not like our stuff floating around miles underground somewhere in Arizona. So, that is why we have those two small external hard drives. They fit in your pockets easily.

If you get each in a bright color red/blue, they stand out on the shelf and cannot get mistaken in an emergency exit plan...no more lugging around 15 photo albums out to the car. A weekly or monthly back up plan is sufficient. Yes, the external hard drives can be hooked up and backed up automatically, that is your choice, too. Our manual backup is easier and you know what is being placed, when, and where.(named folders)
