Bonneville Raceway. The Stags club race car is still racing, over 50 years strong.

    Bad decisions make good stories.

  6. Don't remember seeing these posted before, from Indianapolis Raceway Park in 1961. Not all "in motion" shots but some good quality beautiful photos, shot at the right place at the right time. I don't think I've ever seen a color shot of the Eddie Hill car before. Found on the http://www.dragstriplist.com/location website. Submitted by Dean Lind with the following caption.

    Indianapolis Raceway Park, 1961
"I have several pictures that I took with my camera at Raceway Park in Indianapolis at the 1961 National Drags that three friends and I attended. We were all living in Minnesota at that time and were talking about the races in Indianapolis. So that evening we all jumped in my '60 Ford Starliner and drove 10 1/2 hours to Indy, arriving for the races the next day!"

Thanks, Dean! Good shooting there.

Claymart I was at the 61 Nats and let me say, all you younger guys, if you could go back in time, spend a couple days there. It would be the trip of a life time. However all we can do is dream about it.

I'm not in the club, no connection to the car. However, she's famous in the northern Utah area. Here's how she's looked through the years. stags1.jpg stags4.jpg

What was almost as much fun was being able to walk around the parking lot of the shopping center up the road from IRP where they teched the cars.

  23. From the looks of things, could have been a little slick on the track for starters. / Do they still run when there is snow around like they used to? I was agast when I saw a pic the rattler flopper in the pits with snow all about. Since have seen more snow lined strips from back in the day, but still find it amazing that we ran those machines in those conditions then.
