Super nice guys. Gives me continued motivation on my coupe. So what about the glass was unpleasant? I am assuming it was all custom cut so issues with getting in the tracks etc?

Haha well the first piece of glass we put in cracked in half, so had to wait almost a whole week for the replacement. Fortunately it was just the 1/4 glass. The window regulators in the doors didn't wanna roll up or down. I bought all brand new stuff for the glass and doors from Snyders / Macs and most of the stuff is made in China. REALLY upset I wasn't able to use original stuff. Had to spend a lot of time convincing the regulators and door glass to work right. The windshield didn't wanna go in either. The thickness of the paint on all the parts really made a huge difference. We did end up getting everything almost 100% and we're very happy with the results. I couldn't tell you HOW we got everything to work, but we did.

We were suppose to have the soft tip from Labaron Bonny Friday to install on Saturday but it came a day late so we were only able to tinker with the car. Installed the mirror and made a spacer for it since we're bolting it right to the wooden header panel. Finished up some more insulation and fit the rubber floor panels to cover the dynamat.

Today we installed the soft top. We've never installed one before, so there was a little guess work. Bought the kit from Labaron Bonney, but asked to swap out the long and short grain fabrics in favor of the colonial grain as seen on Cory Taulberts 32 5 window. We also ditched the chicken wire and denim steps and laid down some 1/8" pine. We laid down some 1/2"x1/8" felt adhesive padding between the ribs and the pine sheet to buffer any noise. I stained it to act as the headliner in the car, so when you look up it's all stained wood. Really happy with the results. Once the sun bakes it some of the wrinkles should smooth out.

We're trying to take it out this coming weekend to test how the 700r4 kickdown cable is set. Hoping the weather is nice enough. I don't have the seat upholstered yet so I'll just stack some blankets.

Maiden Voyage! Yesterday was a sunny, exciting, nerve-wracking, FREEZING COLD Sunday. We have a blizzard on our tail today, so yesterday was the only day we had an opportunity to take this thing out for its first drive. Its insured, but still waiting for the registration. Took it around the block a few times and we couldn't be more happy. It was everything I'd hoped for, plus more. I'm still in shock we actually drove it. What a weird feeling. Only need to address a few issues and its on its way to the first highway trip. Enjoy!

Just scanned in some 35mm negatives tonight of the day we installed the soft top. I try to shoot film around my family these days. Just picked up a Leitz Summar 50mm lens for my Leica that was made in 1935. Absolutely incredible how great the shots look with a lens actually JUST older than my grandparents. We're all gonna miss having a project to work on together after it's all said and done. Hopefully the next project isn't too far away.
