  1. Well, I can build cars like that..... I just don't want to.
Seriously, it's great work. I would like to do a pancaked hood but I am afraid to warp everything. What do you set your welder to? We have a Lincoln 255 with .030 wire or .023 when using 20 GA. Just wondering what everyone else does about warpage

I have a tweko fabricator 141i mig welder . It has a post flow feature on it that helps on start up tacks when im welding thin metal i run .030 wire on 1.5 wire speed and voltage set at 80-90 amps .
How i go about welding and tring to control warping, Is making shure i have a piece that fits with about 1/16 gap around fitment anything bigger will only cause build up of weld and more heat . Once it fits nice then i tack "corners" and cool each tack with an air blower as i go . I bought a blue point air blower with tip adapters from the tool truck which is supposed to help direct air flow were u need it helps for shure. I try to move around the seems tacking and cooling, also i cool the metal as im grinding welds . I apply the same method if i pie cut or but weld .i tig all of my work now and its much harder to control heat and definitely a hole different ball park . I dont do any hammer or dolly work untill weldings done and smooth surface. Hope this helps .

[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] update on the cage ... finally done [IMG] also started gathering parts from the yard and started making a 5 window look complete [IMG][IMG] 4 door jimmy frame came off a studabaker, i had laying around and the shell of the truck i found in a field about 3 months ago. wheel base on the frame was 124 so i had to cut out 8 inches to match the 116 from the original wheel base. Mocked up a bumper that looked eye catching too . What do yall think ? Hope to have it done by summer .

  22. Well Mr. Elgato, no question you have a wonderful God given talent. Just wish I lived closer so I could drop over and "keep on eye out" on what you're doing. My '51 Sport Coupe (in avatar) looks kind of plain compared to your Fleetline. Nice.
    God bless. IMG_0151.JPG
