Just a casual glance, Polished Aluminum Valve Covers for 265 - 327 Chevrolet, $14.75! Now after Charlie takes his cut, the distributor get's his cut, the manufacture is getting about 2 or 3 dollars each for casting and polishing. Amazing!
1957 Hot Rod Magazine Hello, These two ads always popped up in most magazines. Honest Charley Speed Shop and J.C. Whitney & Co. One time, we actually ordered from both, but that was it. The local speed shops had everything we needed for our cars. No more mail ordering. Jnaki Besides, who could not resist going to the local Pep Boys Store for all of those low cost chrome goodies and car accessories? Somehow, they are still around. The stores still have that distinct smell as soon as you walk into the showroom. That has never gone away.
Popular Mechanics used to have a lot of new car stuff in their magazine in the fifties. Like this one from 1955 that I have.
Yes they do... I've got alot of them , I did have all most every issue starting in 1932 going to about 1972 ,my brother does estate sales and estate clean-ups ,he comes into some really cool stuff including cars, and he knows I collect old magazines for there ads that I remove this particularly haul was two pick-up loads, there is alot of neat information and stories in them the ads that I posted on this thread earlier were from old national geographic magazines, yes the early ones with the naked jungle people before it was illegal to photograph them...
