I have not, but I do recall seeing an adapter offered for Chevy bell housing pattern/transmission. That's the good news, the bad news is, I do not recall the vendor. Ray
Why not use a bop th350? The 215 has a standard buick Olds Pontiac bellhousing Sent from my SM-G920V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I think you are incorrect. The 215 uses it's own bellhousing pattern as far as I know. What might be useful is the same engine is used by Rover as the 3500 and 4500. So if you are set on auto trans it might have some options through that source?
Not so, as pointed out by 38chevy454, above. The 215 aluminum V8 and '61/'63 Buick cast iron 198 cube V6 shared the unique block pattern. 1964 models got the 300 cube iron V8 and a 225 V6 with the BOP block pattern. Ray
The only source that comes close is D&D Fabrication. Unfortunately they only make a manual bellhousing. Try calling them @ 810-798-2491 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. M/S EST to see if they have any leads or are working on making what your looking for.
Check with Kennedy engineering. They made adapters for both the 215 and 198 engines to bolt to VW's. They might have made an adapter plate for bop or chevy bell pattern trans to these engines.
D&D fabrications did indeed make an adapter kit for a Turbo 350 to the 215.I have one in the box,new ,never used .It consisted of an adapter plate,(aluminum)a steel flex plate with spacers welded on,and an aluminum spud.Looks to be a quality piece.A customer ordered it and then went a different direction. No instructions in the box.If I find instructions, I'll post them.
The Rover V8, as they are down here, were very popular swaps in the UK. Pops or Anglia loved them due to compact size. I suspect UK members would be better informed that me. There is UK hot rod site that may assist. Rovers had 3sp autos behind them which I believe were Borg Warner 66s? A friend recently sold his warmed up Rover with an Australian Dellow brand kit to allow a GM automatic transmission. http://www.p6club.com/content/borg-warner-automatic-gearbox http://www.britishv8.org/British-V8-Current-Issue.htm Here is the kit with a 700R, too much auto IMHO, a 200R would be better as smaller with less reciprocating mass. Later 3.5lt Rover V8s (3 speed) used a GM 180 auto
Found this on their site just now that I didn't before. "Adapter Plates Also Available For Other Applications". That alone would be worthy of making a call to them as I'm sure they still have either the pattern or cad on file. http://www.aluminumv8.com/
Here is one from the Castlemaine Rod Shop in Australia: http://www.rodshop.com.au/bellhousings/rover-v8/t350.html?make=170&cat=638
