I have been looking for a nailhead for my coupe. The 322 I have ended up freezing at some point and has a cracked block. Went to check on a nailhead for sale and ended up with two 264's and a 330 desoto. Now plans have changed again and I'm going to run the desoto. The desoto has a air cooled powerflite. Are these worth rebuilding or go with an adapter for a newer style tranny?
No, I'm hoping the desoto will check out ok. If not I should have enough to finish the original nailhead.
I have a 291 Desoto thats destined for a future project. Im adapting it to a Ford toploader. I would recommend you use something besides the orig Desoto trans. Because Im sure parts for the trans is even harder to find than parts for the engine.
I sell all the complete DeSoto hemi engines I can find to local DeSoto club members. They sure seem to want then as they will pay more than local hot rodders.
